Jindhal "off season" political advertising?
I just heard a commercial on AM 1380 Baton Rouge, "Progressive Talk", which carries Air America and then Ed Shultz (but operates only during daylight hours, seems to be very very low power, and shoves out offensive ABC Radio News every half-hour).

The commercial, of which I caught the last sentence or two of, was a holiday safety commercial, in which Jindhal's wife(?) says she and her husband want you to be safe this season.

I did catch that the sponsors were the National Association of Broadcasters and "this station", which is owned by Clear Channel.

Is this the beginning of a move to unseat Blanco?

Will AM 1380 suddenly go black at some point in the future?

1. Jindal
I don't get that station (I am in North LA) but you may want to know it's Jindal (no H). Have a great day.

2. Yep, get ready for it....here it comes
He's been over here in the New Iberia, Delcambre, Abbeville area almost weekly since Hurricane Rita. He was here a week ago and brought cases of cleaning supplies for the people who were cleaning up their homes that had flooded.

There's also another rumor being floated around: David Vitter is considering running for Governor against Kathleen. If he would win, Jindal would run for Vitter's seat. Just the thought of that makes me want to gag.

5. Jindals's the "future" according to David Shithead because
Jindal's a rarity, he's a dark-skinned, Fundie, Right-Wing lunatic in Louisiana.

They're delusional. I remember the Louisiana GOP having this fantasy about "if we could get a JC Watts that could appeal to the Cajuns, heck we'd win!"

'Um...YEAH...WHATEVER.

The fact is, the blacks won't vote for Jindal and neither will most of the whites vote for Jindal. Governor Blanco got votes from people who she wasn't EVEN supposed to get votes from...if you catch my drift?

6. Jindal represents district one...
which is a very white district and won it in a landslide (78%), so yes he can garner the white vote. He may not win in places like Livingston Parish ,but could garner enough support to win.

Also remember that Blanco's victory over him wasn't a landslide (her 52% to his 48%). If the Democrats run a weak candidate, then it is in the bag for him.

Hell I thought Vitter would never get elected because he has the I.Q. of a styrofoam packing peanut. But he did. Sadly.

7. Bizarrely, Jindal
Edited on Sat Nov-05-05 12:04 PM by ...of J.Temperance
Did win Livingston Parish. David Vitter would have lost in a run-off, Chris John would have beaten him. It was a stupid situation John Kennedy and Arthur Morrell staying in, they should have pulled out way before November 2nd and let John and Vitter slug it out, combined John, Kennedy and Morrel got 47%...Chris John would have got the 50% plus 1 had it of been just him running for us against Vitter.

Kathleen Blanco beat Jindal by 54,874 votes, Jindal's district is in a full-on nutjob area. I personally don't think he can get enough white support to win statewide, he did rather poorly in the Northern part of the state, and he only won 12 Parishes...4 of which we can flip if we pad them out with the NOLA black evacuees that are being cared for in those Parishes.

The full result was: Blanco, 731,358 and Jindal, 676,484.

This might bore you, I hope not though ;)

Jindal won:

Ascension by 16,272 to Blanco's 13,733
Bossier by 15,331 to Blanco's 9,051 *
East Baton Rouge by 70,547 to Blanco's 62,638 *
Jefferson by 87,712 to Blanco's 52,319
Lafayette by 34,951 to Blanco's 32,734 *
Livingston by 17,812 to Blanco's 13,451
Ouachita by 22,491 to Blanco's 20,194 *
Plaquemines by 5,645 to Blanco's 4,956
Sabine by 3,140 to Blanco's 3,058
St. Bernard by 14,428 to Blanco's 10,574
St. Charles by 10,727 to Blanco's 7,900
St. Tammany by 49,675 to Blanco's 17,067

The Parishes we can flip have the * symbol next to them. The larger Parishes there: Bossier, East Baton Rouge and Lafayette have a new concentration of evacuated NOLA black voters. Between early 2006 and mid-2006, the decision needs to be made whether these NOLA voters are going to be allowed to vote again in Orleans Parish or not. If NOT, then the SoS Al Ater needs to get them re-registered to vote in Bossier, East Baton Rouge and Lafayette. Ouachita Parish, Jindal won by 2,297 votes over Blanco...this is a Parish we can definately flip in the next election.

Ouachita voted on racial lines. The October 2003 Ouachita vote for Attorney-General was:

Charles Foti Jr. 14,851 - Suzanne Haik Terrell, 24,001

Look at how well Kathleen Blanco out-performed fellow Democrat Foti Jr. and GAINED votes, look also that Bobby Jindal LOST votes on Terrell's performance in that race.

I'm standing by my prediction that Jindal cannot win a major statewide office like Governor.

Sorry this was so very long, but I needed to put the raw numbers in and whatnot.

On Edit: I hope that SOME people at least take something of value to think about from this post of mine. My post wasn't straightforward to do, I had to go through rather a lot of my notes from October 2003 and November 2003.

8. Jindal doesnt represent me
Jindal won by a landslide because the party didnt support those of us who ran against him. They just gave up and allowed Jindal this "stellar victory". Even if a Democrat couldnt win, it would have been very important to not grant Jindal his landslide.

Jindal has no foresight, he didnt propose one bill on coastal restoration or hurricane protection since he was elected. I committed to doing that as it was the number 1 issue facing Louisiana.

Jindal thinks that his running a surplus was great in the Louisiana Dept of Health. This just shows that he looks at numbers and not people. The surplus money could have been spent on people who needed it but didnt get it because it was more important for Bobby Jindal to have a surplus to use when running for office later.

13. Jindal did well with the cajuns
Look at Lafayette Parish, the capital of cajun country and home to Governor Blanco. Jindal won it.

4. Jindal I don't think could win statewide
The reason I think is obvious, but I don't actually want to point it out.

Jindal is an irritating little jumped up runt...we play our cards right, launch an underground smear campaign against him and he's over like Terrell's over.

Vitter. I think that if this time next year Governor Blanco's poll numbers are in the 40%-44% area, then the party should ask her to resign for "health reasons". Thus, Lt. Governor Mitch Landrieu becomes Governor and he has a year to establish a record...David Vitter then runs against Mitch Landrieu and I think Mitch would see off Vitter.

I love Governor Blanco, but if it gets to the point where our hold is going to be at threat, then she needs to stand aside for the good of the Democratic Party.

9. I thought Jindal was rumored to challenge Landrieu?
Since Mary Landrieu is up for reelection in 2008, Jindal would try to capitalize on the GOP base getting out in droves during a presidential election year statewide in Louisiana (especially if Hillary is at the top of the ticket).

12. Vitter
There's a 99% chance of Vitter running for Governor.

Clever how he piggy backed his entire campaign on top of Bushco's... evil, but clever.
