I can remember when cianbro was first starting out they were bidding on box culverts on the interstate. their foreman whose last name escapes me was named "Carl"
He earned my respect instantly.(not carl cianchette)
Ilaid out a box culvert at dog town cut in pittsfield for him. the prime contractor was H.E.SARGEANT of still water. Herbies son Jimmy took over as super from Mike Graves who became general foreman.
Carl whose last name escapes me became general foreman for cianbro.
oh for those fruit bowls with sherbet that the lancy house made so well. or the platter of steamed clams on wed. nites at the ole log cabin.
speaking of the log cabin in Newport we ate their last summer and the food was excellent. we often stop along the way home to different restaurants we haunted in years gone bye.
