WRKO's new 'independent man'
They brought him in on a wave of hype as the late morning replacement for retiring gasbag Pat Whitley, heralded as a refreshing new 'moderate' voice, presumably to balance the steady parade of right-wing agitprop from the likes of Limbaugh, Carr and Savage. But guess what? John DiPietro is just another dickwad. He might as well go ahead and call his program "fair and balanced". What a pathetic joke.

1. Well I guess O'Reilly is a moderate...compared to Coulter that is...
Don't bother listening to RKO; Limbaugh/Weiner are just psychopathic scum; Carr is just trying to emulate them.

2. I'm in the car all day
driving all over eastern NE for work, and the ads for this clown piqued my curiosity. The closest thing to a reasonable voice out there is Jim Braude, and he's marginally more effective than Alan Colms. Plus, they had to cut his show down to a measly hour to make room for O'Reilly, who clearly no one in America can live without for more than five minutes, and he has to share that with the unbelievably shallow Maureen Dowd wannabe, Margery Egan.
What a nightmare. Where is AirAmerica? This is Boston, fer Chrissake!

Thanks for indulging me. I needed to vent.

4. Ugh.
I like Jim Braude a lot. But other than that, we have nothing. Disgusting for such a liberal city. We need AA bad.

Has anyone listened to Mike Barnicle? I think he's on before Braude. What's his deal? Is he a repuke or a lib? I thought he used to be liberal but now that he writes for the Herald... he can't be.

8. Mike Barnicle? oh, him . . .
Edited on Wed Sep-15-04 01:32 AM by TaleWgnDg
Barnicle wrote for the Boston Globe until they fired him for plagiarizing whole paragraphs from another's book. WCVB-TV (Chnl 5) Chronicle kept Barnicle on board but didn't feature him as much. He then was writing in N.Y.C. and was recently hired by Purcell's Boston (tabloid) Herald.

Barnicle never impressed me as anything other than someone who wrote "blue collar" but lead an entirely other life in the 'burbs in Lincoln, MA. I never missed him when he was fired, and sure and hell won't be buying Purcell's tabloid publication to read Barnicle now. Who wants to listen to him on the radio?

edited to correct Barnicle's hometown to Lincoln, MA

9. and if you wanna know more . . .
Edited on Wed Sep-15-04 01:52 AM by TaleWgnDg
Harvard Law School's Professor Alan Dershowitz has had a very long and well-known "running war" of words and litigation against Mike Barnicle . . . here's what Dershowitz says about Barnicle:

http://www.jewishjournal.org/archives/archiveAug21_98.htm

And the book that I mentioned above (re Barnicle plagiarized) was authored by George Carlin (note what Dershowitz says) . . . Barnicle was fired from the Boston Globe for plagiarizing material from Carlin.

5. All you need to know about DiPetro is that
at his last job at WHJJ in Providence this Bushbot said "If you don't vote for Bush you are unpatriotic". It was even played over and over on the station as a promo for his program. Independent my ass! The name "Independent Man" comes from the statue atop the Rhode Island state house dome.
