Goals of the first statewide Democracy for Massachusetts summit:

- Enable direct communication between DFA-MA grassroots and leaders of DFA headquarters

- Enable all DFA-MA groups to meet each other (and individuals to meet other DFA grassroots leaders throughout the state)

- Decide what goals and state-wide structure (if any!) DFA-MA will have

- Develop a method for communication
(for sharing best practices, coordinating campaigns, and continuing work on issues addressed today)

- Develop action plans to expand the grassroots and implement what we decide today

There were a number of changes to the party charter that slipped in almost unnoticed and that may prevent progressive efforts within the Massachusetts Democratic party. At the bottom of this email is a list of these issues.


These concerns were aired with Kate Donahue, who was the author of the party charter amendments. Kate has agreed to address these and other concerns at the Democrats for America (DFA) Meeting in Worcester on Saturday, June 4.


Please, consider attending the meeting and entering into a dialog with Kate about these changes.
