AFL-CIO anti-DeVos flyers
The unions have an ability to boil political campaigns right down to a few important issues that resonate with their membership. Such is the case with these three flyers the union is distributing to it's members. Union members are generally, more in tune to poitics than the average worker, due in no small part to the informational campaigns run by their unions. Pacifists they aren't. They respond mostly to the "red meat" kinds of attacks that many DUers wish the national Democratic Party would launch against the GOP.

"The Dick DeVos jobs plan
Cutting jobs in Michigan
Creating jobs in China
As President of Amway corporation, from 1998 to 2000
Dick DeVos laid off 1,400 Michigan workers."

"Then, Dick DeVos invested over $200 million in new manufacturing
plants in China that now provide jobs for Chinese workers. This strategy
guaranteed profits for Amway but at the expense of American jobs.
Amway’s name derives from the company’s slogan, “The American Way.”
Isn’t that ironic?"

"...Amway lobbied Congress for Permanent Normal Trade Relations for China, despite
China’s record on extensive labor and human rights violations, and then
moved jobs there."

"The DeVos family contributed more than any other American family to the
Bush campaign - $602,000 in 2000 alone. In return, Bush offered DeVos
the ambassadorship to the Netherlands. Instead, DeVos chose to stay in
the states and lobby Bush for tax breaks for himself and his companies.
(Wall Street Journal, 12/28/2000; Detroit News, 3/4/2001)
Tom DeLay and Dick DeVos go way back. DeLay is a former Amway
distributor. DeVos and DeLay have transfered thousands of dollars
between their respective PACs. DeVos even gave the indicted DeLay
$5,000 for his legal defense fund. (Fox News Special report with Brit Hume 5/20/99)
Corporate lobbyist Jack Abramoff, just sentenced to six years in prison for
fraud, has also been a long time friend of the DeVos family. Abramoff has
conducted Republican strategy briefings with DeVos on the Amway
yacht. (Business Week, 7/5/1999, “Show Them the Money” )"

"Out of touch with
Michigan’s Working Families
Three yachts, a helicopter, a private jet, houses in Harbor Springs,
Vero Beach and Snow Mass, multiple out of state sports teams,
millions of dollars spent influencing politics and candidates...

It’s not a crime to be rich, but look at how
DeVos uses his money to hurt Michigan workers:

DeVos supports a campaign, secretly funded with $490 million
since 1998 by the 18 wealthiest families in the country, to repeal
the estate tax. This campaign misleadingly claims that the estate
tax affects ordinary working families, small business owners and
family farmers. The truth is that only one quarter of 1% of all
estates (billionaires like DeVos) will owe any estate taxes
this year. Giving a massive handout to the wealthiest families
would gut $1 trillion from the federal treasury in 10 years and
cause severe financial shortfalls in education, health care and
disaster-preparedness, and add to the ballooning budget deficit."

1. These are great. The middle one is the one I like the best.

3. Wow
Those guys are smart. Maybe the campaigns and estbalishment need to start listening to them. I hear they are super-sexy, too.
