anyone involved with prison outreach/located in the up (near ironwood)
i think
hi. a woman i know has an adult son serving prison term in michigan. i have just received a general update from her about him and was wondering if anyone is involved in working with prisoners in this area. the american friends service committee out of ann arbor is currently helping, and he is eligible for parole in 3 yrs.
i dont have the specifics of where he is serving though i can find out. her note did say that ironwood, michigan was approx 15 miles away from the prison.
she was asking in her email if anyone knew of a general correspondence course available to prisoners. online courses are not an option as they do not have regular online access. she asked if there are "old fashioned" correspondence courses available. he is currently able to work on his ged of course.
if anyone has any leads or information please pm me thank you so much
FNG, there is a Unitarian Universalist congregation in Houghton you might try to contact. Gogebic Community College is in the area you are talking about, perhaps they have correspondence courses.
Its nice to know that I am not the only D.U. Member from the Great Upper Peninsula. I don't currently live up there but... was born and raised in Marquette county.
I will check with him to see if he knows anything about the programs offered at the Ironwood facility. I will get back to you through this thread...:-)
