Matthew Lourey, son of state Sen. Becky Lourey, has been killed in Iraq, a senate spokesman said.

Details of the death of the helicopter pilot were not immediately available, said John Pollard, spokesman for Senate Majority Leader Dean Johnson.

Johnson was expected to convene a news conference later today.

Lourey, DFL-Kerrick, had 12 children. Two had died before Lourey's death.

3. Oh, this is horrible
Love to her and her family during this time.

How many more will this war take from us before the country wakes up and says, "No more!"?

State Sen. Becky Lourey's son killed in Iraq

BY RACHEL E. STASSEN-BERGER

Chief Warrant Officer Matthew Lourey, the son of state Sen. Becky Lourey, died when his helicopter was shot down in Iraq Thursday north of Baghdad
-snip-

In a July, 2004 campaign visit to Cloquet by presidential candidate John Kerry, Lourey spoke about her son returning after his first tour in Iraq and a son-in-law serving there.

“They know their oath. They know their duty,” she said. “I don't want any more chicken hawks making these decisions, lying to us about the reasons.”

-snip-
Sen. Becky Lourey, who Johnson said has “passion for the well being of all citizens,” has seen more than her share of tragedy. She is the mother of 12 children, two of whom died earlier.

“This is also a woman who has now lost her third child,” said Johnson, whose wife died of cancer earlier this year, as his eyes filled with tears.

“One of the most difficult things in life if not the most difficult certainly is to lose a spouse. But to lose a child, and a second child and now a third child,” said Johnson. “I guess I reference the psalm, ‘Oh lord, how long have you forgotten me. How long must I feel this in my heart.’ Sen. Lourey feels this today along with her family and she certainly has every right to ask that question.”

there are no Democrats like Becky Lourey.
Personal responsibility, integrity, family values, pro-America.

What am I supposed to think, now?

13. What a loss
what a sacrifice. We need some personal accountability for the devastation that is occuring.
