Why did the Star Tribune cut "Opus" from the Sunday comics?
I don't understood why. They're running re-runs of "Calvin and Hobbes" in its place. Now I love C&H, but still don't understand why some other strip couldn't have gotten cut instead. Something lame-ass like, say, "The Family Circus".

1. Is Mallard Fillmore still in the Star Tribune?
I won't buy another Strib until they drop that strip, and Katherine Kersten's column.

2. I treat both items as if they were radioactive.

There's a lot of good stuff in the paper, so I didn't cancel my subscription when they started running those bits of crap. But I guess the thing to do is keep complaining. Kersten is just stupid, and Mallard Fillmore is both stupid and not funny. If enough people complain they'll go away. Meantime, you've got material to line bird cages with.

and let us know what she says.

6. Just temporary
for the return of a special run of Calvin & Hobbes classics. Something to do with Watterson's release of the Complete Calvin & Hobbes or some such. Opus will be back, though I wish they'd bumped something else.

7. Opus is still in the Pioneer Press
I buy both the PP and the Strib in order to get balanced coverage--one is too far right and one is too far left!

9. Maybe just too painfully hip and trendy
I've always wished the two would merge so we could have one decent paper instead of two mediocre ones.
