Keillor:Coleman is a man without a single principled bone in his body
From Salon:

http://www.salon.com/books/int/2004/08/21/keillor/index2.html

Keillor: Norm Coleman is a man without a single principled bone in his body. He was a liberal Democrat who saw greater career opportunities on the other side and one night he sewed himself a new set of beliefs and crossed over. He is the first truly cynical politician in Minnesota in my lifetime. What went wrong? Sen. Paul Wellstone's plane crashed in the woods.

BTW, I'm looking at transferring to McAlister in St. Paul, and I'd like to hear some views, if possible.

1. If it adds a Kerry vote to Minnesota I am for you moving
Sorry, but I just don't see SC as being in play.

2. I lived in Minneapolis
over two decades ago and loved it. Great state, nice people, some good restaurants. It's the unsung chicken salad capitol of North America. There's quite a rivalry between Minneapolis and St. Paul, but both are worth living in.

Just buy lots of mosquito repellent and you'll love it.

6. It's still good, but not as good as it was
20 years ago, at least we had a state government that believed in the unwritten social compact: we have an obligation to take care of each other (not just ourselves), and that our whole state does better when everyone in it does better.

Unfortunately, after 12+ years of Republican/Jesse Ventura neglect, things have gotten a little grim. Schools are holding yearly referenda just to get enough money to operate for the year, social services are being slashed and eliminated because the governor promised to "not raise taxes", even though there's a whole slew of new "user fees" on almost everything government-related.

However, there's a good chance that things will start to turn around this year. The DFL is in a good spot, bouyed by all the new activists turned out by the primaries.

4. Yes, the correct spelling is
"Macalester." You want your application going to the correct college, don't you? :-)
