1. That was a great show, wasn't it?
Any estimates on crowd size?

4. Evening news puts crowd at:
12,000. I was one. Great time.

On the Dark Side:
The news also showed cheney* at his "town hall style meeting" at the fairgrounds. From the short video, it was obvious that less than 100 were inside the tent which screened the event from the general public.
Disclaimer: I am inferring the above from the video shown on the news. I was NOT at the cheney* event.

5. 12,000! Cool! I was one of them, too.
But I also wasn't at the Cheney event (which made Edwards late because his plane couldn't land until DICK got his wrinkly old ass out of our airspace). Did you also happen to notice that anybody who wanted to see Edwards could just show up? No loyalty oaths, no questioning, no screening. Just walk right in... I didn't notice any hecklers at all except a couple of anti-abortion picketers at the park entrance and some weirdos driving by in a truck with a photo of a couple of guys kissing and a big sign that said "If you want gay marriage, vote for Kerry." Whatever....

6. Great shots. Adding some of my own.

Large enthusiastic crowd revived my optimism after the bogus poll numbers this weekend.

Leadoff Jim Hightower
"...but what bush* doesn't tell you is that those jobs he created pay $9,000/year less and don't have good benefits!"

St. Paul's own Garrison Keillor (Prairie Home Companion)
"I'm a Democrat not because I'm mad at bush*. I'm a Democrat because I love America, and when we turn America over to our children, it needs to be in better shape than when it was given to us."

AFL-CIO President John J. Sweeney
"Kerry and Edwards have a healthcare plan to help working Americans. bush and cheney* don't have a plan. They aren't even concerned that they don't have a plan. They don't care!"

The charismatic John Edwards
"Help is on the way!"

unknown Democratic activists
"WOOF!"

HI, dodger501. judging from the camera angles, we were pretty close.
Happy Labor Day. See you in the streets!

7. Yes, I was . . .
maybe 2 rows in front of you and 3-4 people to the left, just out of your top photo.
Thanks to Dick "F-Bomb" Cheney making Edwards late, my wife, who cannot stand for hours, was really suffering by the time it was over.

Did anyone see the brouhaha involving the "gay-mobile" truck outside at the end? Some folks were standing there, blocking it's progress.
I could see the driver on the cell phone and by the time we were in the car and driving east, several squad cars with lights blazing were headed that way.

Another downside: 3 chow lines for 12,000 people . . . needless to say, we went hungry.

8. what a great day! (except for the sunburn)
I brought my whole famn damily, we ate a picnic lunch and cheered our lungs out. They didn't have 1/10th as much fun with Darth Cheney over at the Fair.
