Automated phone poll called our house tonight-trolling for Nader voters?
(side note - bush was in Minnesota all day today)

My husband took the call and told me about it a few hours later. The taped voice explained it was a short, three question survey and you were to push buttons to register your answers.

The questions and answer choices went (something) like this:

1. Are you likely to vote in the presidential election in November?
yes or no (1 or 2)

2. Are you likely to vote for John Kerry or George Bush?
1 or 2 (husband doesn't remember which name was first)

3. If you will not vote for President Bush how likely are you to vote for Ralph Nader?
somewhat likely, very likely, will not vote Nader (1,2 or 3)

1. I got that yesterday in Iowa and so did someone in Ohio.
Hmmm, looks like they are focused on swing states. Of course, it didn't say who it was from, did it?

2. might have, but my husband didn't remember - he's not as keen on
this stuff as I/we are, but did dutifully report what he could recall.

3. Nader doesn't have the dough for this
Nader's campaign is darn near broke-- the only $$ he's getting is from Repubs, and they're not being overly generous, either. I would guess any phonecalling for Nader will be done by volunteers (both of them), not by an autodialer.

I'd put my money on the GOP. They're known for doing these type of campaigns. IIRC they may have even done an autodialer earlier this year in MN, too, but I'm not certain.

4. Call Hatch's office
Those types of calls are illegal in Minnesota. Even if you don't know who is doing it they can send out a warning to the Repubs
