Local Freeper scared by middle-eastern man.
Edited on Fri Sep-17-04 09:28 PM by Dickie Flatt
Last eve I was waiting for the bus to go to Uptown, with my sign,"Catholics against Kerry" The bus stop is in front of a middle eastern owned store. I noticed this one guy coming out of the store, soon he came in the bus stop lane in a white van, he just sat there with his headlights on, right in my face, he got out of his van, went into the store, came out, even pulled his van withthe bright lights right in my face, I saw the bus coming, got up and asked him to move, so the bus could ease in, there was another person at the stop, suddenly he got out of his van, came around in front, came up to me and yelled,"you can't be out here in front of my store with this sign, and you can't be asking for money, " I said, "I am waiting for that bus you are blocking, I AM NOT asking for money!!!" I tell you, I had just come from watching the news report that people were kidnapped in Bahgdad!!!eeek, I was a little freaked out! a van slowly creeping up to me, eeek, lights on and in my face, a noticeably middle eastern guy getting out of this van, angry and running up in my face, ----yeah, I was just a little upset! I wanted to tell him this was the USA and the sidewalk and bus stop was public, and I was ONLY waiting for the bus!! Maybe they should be sent a copy of the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, the Preamble and the Bill of Rights!!! What do you think?? Am I overreacting? You tell me. Thanks

Sounds awful! No link to Freep unless you must have one. This same freeper also alerted fellow minnesota freeps to this harrowing encounter:

I just got home from demming in Uptown, where the traffic is heavy on a Thurs. night, on the bus coming home two AfroAmericans were harrassing me about Bush, I didn't say anything, and just told them I was on the bus with my covered sign, and that I just wanted to go home, they were talking the same old democrat for the poor thing, repubs=rich white.....the guy got so out of it that the driver had to call police, out he jumped! same ole , same ole, the black community needs to wake up, have they heard of Keyes? There needs to be posting of signs in THEIR neighborhoods, they need to be awaken but alot still live in the old 60days, but Jesse Jackson makes sure they always think of themselves as perpetual victims, when the victims now are all their black babies aborted, genocide? I think so, have they ever heard of Margaret Sanger and "The Negro Project?"........

2. Oh my god
I think there is a real possibility that Iraqis from Bahgdad are coming over to the United States to kidnap American morons. This gentleman seems like a real target. He should head for his bomb shelter and stay there until about November 3.

3. He must of seen those posters...
...that Kiffmeyer sent out to every county auditor to post at polling places. They say "watch out for bald brown men who might smell funny because they put perfume on for a final purification rite! They might kidnap you, behead you, fly a plane into your ballot box, or even VOTE!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

4. so much for our "best educated" status

I have similar discussions with the conservatives at the local coffee shop. I ask them if they're afraid, they say 'yes'. I ask what they're afraid of. They say 'another terrorist attack, this time in Minneapolis.'

It takes time and patience and a lot of facts to get them past that point. Once you do, their minds open up a little and you can get more rational discussion of the issues, pros and cons. But they're drenched in fear and fear makes everyone stupid.

Nice work, Mr. Resident.

5. Y'know, I was scared, too...
for about a week after 9/11. I worked in downtown Mpls (this was before I got laid off) and had an office that faced the IDS. For about a week, I thought, "OK, they got the East Coast. Next will either be the West Coast, OR they'll hit the Midwest to show that no areais safe." And I figured if they were going for the Midwest, it would be Chicago or Minneapolis.

Of course, everyone is the center of his or her own universe, and after a week I settled down and realized that that probably just wasn't going to happen. Then a couple months later the place I was working at went through a ton of layoffs "due to post-9/11 slumps blah blah" and so I didn't have to worry about working in Mpls anymore.

It amazes me that people in, say, Mower County are worried about terrorists showing up at the polls to blow up Hotdish Township Hall. With Kiffmeyer as secretary of state, they should be worrying about other things.

6. I bet that's the same gal I saw a few weeks ago in Uptown
If it's the same person, she was a middle-aged woman who was standing on the corner of Hennepin and Lake holding a "Catholics against Kerry" sign. My sister and I just looked at each other and rolled our eyes... There was a lot of people walking about and they were ignoring her.

7. he was RIDING A BUS - what is he, some kind of commie?
Hey Freep, don't you know that your own beloved Taxpayers League has declared that public transportation is only for socialists and other sub-humans? Obviously if you don't have a car, your opinions don't mean jack squat.
