Canvasing in Bloomington today

This was the second go through of this particular precinct. I missed the first canvas and today's was to try and catch the people who weren't home the first time. These were all people that had been identified as undecided or leaning Kerry in the original phone survey I did. I banged on about 40 doors and got answers at about 20. Five undecideds, 5 leaning Kerry, 9 strong Kerry, no Nader and ONE Bush. In a precinct that usually goes Republican. On the other hand, there were a lot of Bush signs, not too many Kerrys, but people are having trouble getting Kerry signs around here.

Lots of bitching about the money spent on campaigns, the length of campaigns, and the fact the debates aren't really debates from the undecideds. A couple undecideds told me they don't like any of the candidates. Lots of bitching about the war, the economy and health care from the Kerry people. I didn't hang around to chat with the Bush supporter.
