I'm absentee voting and can't figure out Haeg vs. Swenson.
I can't find any good information on either of them, beyond the normal platitudes. Does anyone here know anything?

1. Hmm I found Haeg's website.

It looks like most of his support comes from personal injury lawyers, divorce lawyers, etc. Milavitz, Milavitz, Gallop and Millavitz doesn't smell right to me somehow. But I'd still like to hear more from someone who knows. Edit: here's the site http://haegforjudge.org/page14/page14.html

2. Swenson.
He's the incumbent and a very good judge (my husband has had cases in front of him).

3. Anyone but Swenson!
He was the judge first assigned to my divorce case and he is a real misogynist. He refused and stated that he never will hear a motion for emergency spousal maintenance. Had I not been renting from a friend I would have been homeless.
When I protested he described me as "bitter" (for fighting for my rights) but did recluse himself.

4. I guess I would encourage you
to do a bit of research and see what you come up with. The incumbent IS a good judge, and is not a misogynist. Divorce and custody situations are sticky and leave many people with bitter feelings (justifiably, I think), but it isn't fair to judge him on the particulars of one case. I'm sure Judge Swenson has presided over a gazillion divorce proceedings, and if I were on the losing side of one of his judgements, I'd probably be pissed, too. In these cases, 50% of parties will be very happy with him, and 50% won't. Just see what you can find out and I thank you for actually thinking about this - most people don't give a damn about judicial elections.

catch everything.
I respectfully disagree about Swenson. Several female lawyers have had problems with him. Also how can you say a judge is good when he denies the right to be heard in court?
In my particular case the judge we were assigned after Swenson reversed all his rulings. One of them was wrong.

7. Well, respectfully, that was your experience
And I'm truly sorry it wasn't a good one. But I'd ask that if he is truly sexist, then it needs to be backed up by more sources, and maybe a petition or an op-ed piece signed by all of these attorneys that seem to have problems with him.

I may not know all of these family court judges personally, but after years of hearing about them from my husband - a very kind, fair, and liberal individual - judge Swenson is one of the best in his field.

8. I think you said it all
Your husband -a male has had no problems. After Swenson refused to hear a legitimate motion from my attorney and I was assigned a new judge, my attorney's partner was slapped with a contempt charge for trying to file the same motion for another client. The motion BTW was for temporary spousal maintenance. I believe the attorney that was charged did file a complaint with whomever those type of complaints are filed and the charges were dropped.
Swenson's attitude is that a divorce case can move through the courts in 3&1/2 months and anyone can survive that long without support. As I stated previously I would have been homeless had I not been renting from a friend.
I understand you want to defend your husband's friend but nice guys are NOT always good judges or do they understand what it is like to be abused and poor.
I feel that a change in family court is in order, will vote accordingly and will encourage others to vote against Swenson.

9. Thanks for sharing your experience
My divorce took almost 2 years and I also would have been homeless without spousal support. I will not vote for Swenson.
