Boycott Baja Sol Tortilla Grill restaurants
CEO of this chain is newly elected Minnesota Republican Party Chairman Tony Sutton. You know, the guy who made this observation about the unanimous Minnesota Supreme Court decision seating Al Franken: "We were robbed!"

It appears former Minnesota GOP chair and TCF Bank CEO Bill Cooper may be involved in Baja Sol as well:

If you want to eat Mexican, there's no sense in lining the pockets of these pigs. I'd recommend El Burrito Mercado on St. Paul's West Side.

1. Well, if I live in SW Minneapolis, El Burrito Mercado is a bit inconvenient
How about one of the immigrant-owned places on Lake Street? :-)

7. I don't remember the names, but there's a big place near Chicago and Lake
as well as a couple of places inside the old Sears building. Then there are some near Ingebretsen's, but I haven't tried them.

Also, there's a place on Eat Street that we had a DU Saturday gathering at one month.

2. Glad you posted this
I gave up Baja Sol a few months ago when I learned that Sutton was the CEO.

Lots of Mexican places in the Twin Cities other than this chain to patronize.

4. Major bummer, I really like Baja del Sol
I prefer them over Chipotle, by far. Would appreciate alternatives from anybody!

5. Here are a few alternatives

Another one that isn't on this list that's excellent is Nacho Mama's downtown Stillwater.

11. That list is helpful, but
I was looking more toward a direct alternative to Baja del Sol and Chipotle.
Chipotle loads their burritos up with white rice and other crap, I really really like the way Baja del Sol makes them.

18. You can "have it your way" at Chipotle
I always ask them not to put any rice in my burrito, and they comply.

You know, shortly after the revelations about Baja Sol's ownership appeared in City Pages, I started seeing signs of desperation at the Baja Sol on Hennepin Avenue--handwritten signs in the window announcing bargains.

Becoming known as the property of a Republican bigwig is not a smart move for a business in Uptown.

8. Lots of places on Lake Street and a whole lot of other places.
Lake and Chicago and inside Midtown Global market: Los Campos

There are many great places.

Baja sol is like hungry for a hamburger and you go to McDonalds.

10. Near Knollwood Mall in St Louis Park
There is a small, privately owned restaurant with authentic cuisine right next to LeeAnn Chin. Highway 7 and Texas Avenue. I can't remember the name but I had lunch there recently. I would recommend it.

The co-owner there is a contributor to Michele Bachmann's campaign.

businesses pretty much are owned by Republicans. I have to move.

19. Getting the message out...BOYCOTT BAJA SOL
I'm trying to promote the message and getting people to join the boycott. As long as Tony Sutton, chairman of the GOP and CEO of Baja Sol, promises to frivolously litigate and poison democracy with his toxic partisan vitriol, we should all boycott his faux-Mexican restaurant! Boycott Baja Sol and Promote Democracy in Minnesota!

20. I wonder if Baja Sol is one of those restaurants
where the servers are making $100,000 a year. We should ask Tony if that's why Emmer got the idea that waiting tables pays incredibly well. :sarcasm:

21. Yes to boycott & ya gotta wonder...
I can't remember where Emmer made his big $100K announcement, but that owner said he didn't say his servers made $100K. So maybe it was Tony who shared that one with his friend. Although...Emmer wouldn't have LIED, would he??

And we have been boycotting Baja Sol, even before the $100K idiocy. Along with Best Buy, Target and Holiday (um, don't patronize Polaris...who else is there again?).
