New Emmer ad: Tom Emmer is virile and his wife has a working uterus, so he should be our governor
I guess having seven kids now qualifies you to be governor of Minnesota.:wtf:

http://www.emmerforgovernor.com/news/2010/08/emmer-campaign-releases-first-television-ad-of-2010.html

What's even funnier is Emmer's insistence that under Tim Pawlenty, Minnesota has been going the wrong direction. From his website:

"He knows, as Minnesotans know, that what we’ve been doing isn’t working. The same old solutions of the past that other candidates are offering will only give us the same results. “It’s time for a new direction!”

You're right, Tom, Minnesota does need a new direction--180 degrees from Rethuglicans like you and Timmy the Tool!

1. Tea Party outreach
He is doing Tea Party outreach by doing this. He is saying that Pawlenty did not go far enough to the right, hence the "wrong direction". Remember, he is the Palin-endorsed candidate. In many parts of outstate Minnesota they are upset as Republicans have not been pure enough, so Emmer is going farther and farther to the right, making Pawlenty seem downright liberal in comparison.

Remember the last 20yrs have had the cycle of the Republicans moving to the right, pulling the Democratic party right, when the Democratic Party gets their turn the Republicans go even farther and farther to the right. Right now the Republicans are now going off the cliff in right wing ideology and this dangerous game cannot go much further with some poor outcomes which have torn other countries apart.

6. Are there any moderate Republicans left?
I would think that moderate MN GOPers like Arne Carlson and Durenberger have officially resigned from the party by now.

9. They went out during Carlson's last term
Remember they nominated someone else as Carlson was too liberal for the GOP Convention at the time, yet won the election as a Independent Republican. It has only gotten worse my many orders of magnitude since now that we have the Palin endorsed "pappa grizzly" Emmer. :puke:

10. The Republicans in Minnesota changed their name to "Independent Republican"
right after Watergate to try and distance themselves from Nixon. When Carlson was elected in 1990 the official name of the party was "Independent Republican" - they changed their name back to just "Republican in 1995 or 1996 when they figured out they weren't fooling anyone.

Carlson ran as an "Independent Republican" because that was the name of the party. An oxymoron if there ever was one.

In 1990 Carlson became their candidate after video tape of John Grunseth, the endorsed candidate, surfaced showing him and another adult male skinny dippy with teenaged girls. Grunseth dropped out of the race and the Repukes had no choice but to turn to Carlson. It was so close to the election that, not unlike when Wellstone died, there was no time to reprint ballots & we were given separate ballots for the governor's race that had to be hand counted.

In 1994 the Republicans endorsed Quist, but Carlson beat him in the Republican primary.

2. I would not put my kids in a video..especially in politics
How horrible. It is hard enough keeping kids safe. He just put his right out there.

Can you image how other kids will harass them?

4. Not new, Norm Coleman did it with his daughter many times
Emmer's new campaign manager is clearly going towards the soft, family guy image. By doing this they can deflect from the hard questions and his recent gaffe on pay for food servers. One of Mark Dayton's strongest debate points that the media has shown has been the inability of Emmer to name all his cuts for the $6B that has been talked about.
