Hopefully by December 14, Dayton will be officially declared governor
Edited on Sat Nov-06-10 01:11 AM by MN TN
According to the following article:
http://wcco.com/local/minnesota.recount.timeline.2.1998566.html

Emmer could, of course, challenge the results but wouldn't it look a bit ridiculous for him to do so esp. if recount gives him even fewer votes?

"In one, he quoted someone who agreed with GOP Attorney Fritz Knaak when he said, "9,000 votes is a mighty steep hill to climb and the Emmer folks know it." "

"In another, he linked to a Pioneer Press article and quoted, "Recount poses big challenge for Emmer." "

Another point to make is: Isn't the canvassing board made up of all Republicans except for Mark Richie? So how could repubs complain about any bias to challenge the results??

1. I've crossed fingers for a quick finale for this.
If it continues to be a near Xthousand vote lead I can't see the GOPers carrying this much further.

I notice Dayton has hired Franken's recount team.

2. Except the GOP's main purpose is to obstruct
and if Emmer is further behind at the end of the first recount they'll just send Bachmann out to make up stories that she knows "for a fact" that Mark Ritchie hired people to come in and fill out more ballots. (Just like she told Anderson Cooper that it is a fact that Obama's trip to India was costing $200 million a day.)

They'll justify the obstruction by manufacturing faux outrage and the idiots who just handed the state over to the repukes will fall for it. Emmer may never make it to Summit Avenue but they will do everything they can to harm Dayton and cast doubt on his legitimacy.

4. I was making an observation about how Republicans behave
Edited on Sat Nov-06-10 11:29 PM by dflprincess
I fail to see where anything I said in my first post would lead anyone to believe that Republican obstruction makes me happy.

I do fear that they will do all they can to keep Pawlenty where he is as long as they can. And, if you think those assholes are going to do anything to help Dayton's administration succeed you're in lala land. I just hope Mark does a better job a letting the public know who the real problem is than Obama has done. If he does, the DFL might just be able to take the House back in 2012 and hopefully enough pressure will be brought on the Senate to start cooperating.

11. This is exactly what they do
Here is another example from a couple days ago. El Rushbo on the radio, calling the HCR provision for coverage for pre-existing conditions "welfare" . . .
Nothing sets people, especially white people, off more than the very thought of someone getting something for which they did not work.
Rush knows this is bullshit, he is very aware of it.
But you got the tribal forces pitted against each other now, splitting the issue. Now it's easier to repeal all of HCR.

See how it's done? And dflpricess is right, there are enough low-information people and angry goofballs listening to this to make it happen.

6. After listening to him today on MPR, Emmer will obstruct, scream, throw a
ton of "drama queen performances" like he did today. He will not give up, taking it as far up as he can, getting as much free publicity and air time and taking it away from Mark. The media will be a failure of course because they are too stupid to call this.

7. Hell, the media will cheer him on.
It's already started, with them breathlessly reporting that Dayton's lead has decreased! (Uh, yeah, Emmer picked up a net 6 votes in Plymouth in canvassing. He's on his way!)

9. Ha! Check the front page of the Strib today.
The guy who is 9000 votes BEHIND has his face huge and plastered in the middle of the front page.

The guy who is AHEAD is stuck in the smaller picture below.

WTF?!?! Where's the Strib liberal bias all the wingnuts whine about?
