Protest Assange’s Feb. 7 extradition hearing

Minneapolis letter has been posted here: http://my.firedoglake.com/youmayberight/2011/01/30/prot... /

Julian Assange’s extradition hearing to Sweden begins February 7 in London. His lawyers have argued that based on Sweden’s past practices, Assange’s eventual extradition to the United States — where he could face the death penalty – would be much more likely from Sweden.

Actions in Assange’s support and opposing the extradition are being planned in several cities, including London, Brisbane, Australia, and Minneapolis. Below is a letter the Minneapolis group will be delivering to the UK Consulate located there. If you would like to sign on to the Minneapolis letter, email tacklingtorture@gmail.com .

Better yet, if you’d like to deliver this letter or a similar letter of support to a UK Consulate in your local area, you can find the locations of the embassy in DC or the 27 consulates here. Besides the DC Embassy, the UK has consulates in the following cities: San Juan (PR), Chicago, San Francisco, Orlando, Miami, Denver, Glendale (AZ), Houston, Charlotte (Nebraska), Boston, Nashville, Salt Lake City, Atlanta, Anchorage, Pittsburgh, Seattle, New York, La Jolla (CA), Philadelphia, Dallas, Chesterfield (Missouri), Portland, Kansas City (Kansas), San Jose, Los Angeles, and New Orleans.

Mr. McGrann is the Consul in Minneapolis. Letters delivered in other cities should be addressed to the appropriate UK Consul in those locations. If you are planning something in one of these locales, please let the Minneapolis folks know so they can add you to the list of supporting actions.

Here is a site with 28 UK embassy/consulate locations in the U.S. -- http://united-kingdom.visahq.com/embassy/United-States /; they are D.C., San Juan (PR), Chicago, San Francisco, Orlando, Miami, Denver, Glendale (AZ), Houston, Charlotte (Nebraska), Boston, Nashville, Salt Lake City, Atlanta, Anchorage, Pittsburgh, Seattle, New York, La Jolla (CA), Philadelphia, Dallas, Chesterfield (Missouri), Portland, Kansas City (Kansas), San Jose, Los Angeles, and New Orleans.

Anyone who wants to sign our letter for delivery to UK Consulate in Minneapolis will be directed to respond to us at tacklingtorture@gmail.com

2. What the hell is your obsession with annm4peace?
Only 154 posts and it seems that all of them are attacks against Ann. For your information Ann used to live in Fresno, but has lived in Minnesota for quite a while now. She is one of the most dedicated activists in the Twin Cities area, and no matter how much you try to smear her you will never hold a candle to her in her commitment to creating a better world.

3. Thanks Bjorn
You're not the only one who has noticed and wondered about this.

4. I don't understand
how your dislike for the government extends to support for this guy. Even if by some remote chance he is extradited to the U.S. he will never be executed. Even our most friendly allies would be upset about that. What has he done to deserve your support?
