Someone Referred to us as Deliverance
Are we really getting that bad a reputation?

Pretty soon all of this bad stuff is going to hurt the tourist industry. No one is going to want to come here because they will think we are just a bunch of redneck, stupid people. And dengerous, to boot.

We need to do something about all of this bad publicity - but I don't really know how to stop it. So much of it seems to be true.

The best description of Branson I've ever heard ...
... came from "The Simpsons"

"Branson is kinda like Las Vegas if it had been designed by Ned Flanders."

4. I think for the next couple of years, the tourist
industry is going to be the locals anyway...not many going any distances for vacations.

6. I have not been to the USA since Shrub was elected...
and I won't go back until there is a Democrat in the White House...

In the 1990s, I used to go every weekend, since I only live about 5 minutes from the US-Canada border...

It's a shame, actually - USAsians seem to have better candy than Canadians, I cannot get a lot of pre-packaged food products I prefer here in Canada (Scrapple, Jimmy Dean sausage, etc), gas is waaaaaaaay cheaper, car parts (I own an antique auto), military clothing (for hunting and working in the bush), etc.

I do not think that I will ever shop in the USA as much as I used to (knowing better now how much this affects my own country's economy), but there are certain things that I really love and miss...

I suppose I will just keep on missing them until 2008 (I devoutly hope it will be that soon).

7. That's OK..wish I could stay out of the USA as well. And of course,
we'll both need fancy passports to cross the border soon.

8. We deserve it!

HB911
Eliminates the requirement to obtain a concealable weapon permit before acquiring a handgun.

9. Oh good. Now I can just go out and buy my gun.
I didn't want one until I could conceal it - somehow just doesn't go well with the new fashions.

Actually, the only gun I would be safe with is a water cannon and that might bot be such a good idea, either.

11. Starting, hell Missouri, especially down south,
Has been known as Deliverance country for years and decades now. Hillbillies, rednecks all of that, and quite frankly, it is a reputation that is fairly deserved.

But don't worry about the tourism, our hillbilly, Deliverence rep is actually being used as a draw in some areas, ie Branson, Silver Dollar City, etc.
