Sales Tax Holiday coming in August
http://www.senate.mo.gov/05info/house/bills/hb64.htm

MISSOURI: Aug. 5-7, 2005
Certain back-to-school purchases, such as clothing, school supplies, computers, and other items as defined by the (2003) statute, will be exempt from sales tax for this time period only. On 5/25/05 House Bill 64 extended the sales tax holiday for 2005 and changed the dollar amount for qualifying computer software purchases from $200 to $350 and for personal computers from $2,000 to $3,050.

Seems like a good time to buy a new computer.

1. No. It doesn't.
Taxes are a responsibility to the community as a whole and those of us who can afford to pay them should.

2. As long as corporations do not pay their fair share I
feel no shame taking advantage of a weekend, the only one in a year, when I do not have to pay any sales tax.

I am a single non property owning, non childed female and I get REAMED on taxes.

Give me a sales tax holiday anytime!

Also, some communities can and do opt out and do take sales taxes. Those opposed to a sales tax holiday are free to shop in those communities.

3. Those opposed to sales tax holidays usually do their shopping
on another weekend. I still say that those who can afford to pay taxes should pay them. Taxes are a responsibility to the community as a whole.

I'd rather not take the bait and sign up with the irresponsible republican approach to taxes.
