1. I hope Jim Esch
I voted Jim Esch because the planets are in alignment for him this year. He has more name recognition than in 2006. He has financial support from the DNC. The current environment, in addition to being down the ticket from Obama favors him. However, I still don't know if I have enough faith in Omaha voters.

2. yes, I certainly think he has a chance
He needs to make up 17,000 vs. last time. There's not enough north Omaha vote to make up for that eventhough you know they will be out in force for Obama. GOPers staying home is just not going to happen. Maybe Jim's ads will make a difference? Maybe more name recognition will make a difference? Maybe higher turnout for a presidential election will make a difference? Maybe the economy will make a difference? I think Lee Terry's response ad of just throwing out that Esch will raise your taxes was lame, but a good ad for this district. I'm wondering if Jim's ad on privatizing Social Security will be effective. I'm excited we even have a close race. How thrilling would it be to get a win!

But I hope Esch does win it. He's a long shot candidate IMHO, come on now, this is NEBRASKA we are talking about. I do have faith that Obama might, just might, take the 2nd district, but considering the mentality of the mental midgets who make up Nebraska, I wouldn't want to make any intrade wagers on that.

Nebraska, IMHO, is one of those "SILENT RACIST" states that cling to their guns and their religion and their GOP candidate but don't like to admit it. The only Democrats who have ever fared well are the more right leaning type Democrats like Ben Nelson and such.

Myself, I'm more focused on my own ward and getting Scott Kleeb voted in... yeah I know.. fat chance there too, but Scott is still getting my vote.

Personally, I'll be more then ecstatic if Obama gets JUST 1 electoral from Nebraska, even if it isn't in my district (3rd, Columbus).

4. An Esch win in the 2nd is more likely than Obama
I can picture a McCain/Esch voter, but try to find me an Obama/Terry voter!

5. Sorry guys, I picked Terry
I've worked too many campaigns in the second district to give the residents any credit for voting for their own interests. I really want to see Esch win, but it's gonna be tough.
