You're actually from New Jersey, and you called it Joisey?

I don't suppose you've lived here very long.

I've lived here for almost thirty years (since I was born), and I thought you were a fucking myth.

9. I learned to drive...
behind the Teaneck Armory. Don't know if it's still there.

My folks lived on Edgemere Place (I think)-between assignments in Mexico and Venezuela.

12. Bit of NBA trivia: that's where the NJ Nets
used to play, for their first ABA season (1967-8, when they were the NJ Americans)

I really must get back for a visit one of these months... I spent a dozen happy years in Bergen County.

14. Yep, still there and fixed up
I remember when I was growing up in Bergenfield and they used to have the midget auto races there and the New Jersey Americans (now the Nets) used it as their home court. Saw Dr J play there along with several trips there by the Globetrotters. Used to have R&R shows there at one time also, one I remember hosted by Dick Clark.

18. my alma mater.
back in the days of gaslight. heh. heh.

Used to love to come out of a basketball game and see snow drifting down past the street lights that lined the drive out to Knickerbocker (?) Road. I was back there about 4 years ago and was dismayed to see the campus. Used to be just the main building and huge sweeping lawns. The lake seems to have shrunk, too. We could ice skate in lieu of PE sometimes.

20. I lived on Demarest Avenue.
My grandparents lived on Mountain View - during WWII, there was a victory garden on the lot beside their house from MV to Knickerbocker.
My grandfather always bought the lot next to the houses he built. He had 8 kids and wanted to make sure they had a place to play. He and my Grandmother were both immigrants who achieved the old American Dream. He died too young, but he did well by his family. He was a golf pro when 50 bucks was a big prize. She outlived him for years - and was an amazing woman.

22. Tenafly's
also a great little town.

One thing that impressed me on my last visit to the area is that much has been preserved. I saw buildings and homes that were there in the 50's (and were old then) - and there's still so many beautiful old trees. A couple of us went and knocked on doors of houses we had lived in as kids. The people were so nice - let us in and showed us what they had changed, etc. Bergen County's still a lovely place.
