"Greet" Dick Cheney at Staten Island Fundraiser
Please pass the word that Staten Islanders will be out to Meet and Greet V.P. Dick Cheney on Monday night, July 25th, at 6 PM, in front of Excelsior Grand, 2380 Hylan Blvd., in New Dorp, where he will be starring in Rep. Vito Fossella's fundraiser.

Come as you are or in your t-shirt of choice and bring an appropriate sign of your own making. If you are coming from the Staten Island Ferry, take the S78 bus to Otis Ave. and Hylan Blvd.)

Rep. Vito Fossella is rolling out some heavy artillery -- Vice President Dick Cheney -- to bolster what could be a tough 2006 re-election campaign for the GOP congressman.

Cheney is due to headline a July 25 fund-raiser for Fossella (R-Staten Island/Brooklyn) at the Excelsior Grand in New Dorp. The invitations for "An Evening With Vice President Dick Cheney" began going out during the past week.

Aides to Cheney, whose travel schedule is tightly guarded due to post-Sept. 11 security concerns, declined to comment yesterday on his itinerary, including Staten Island.
GOP sources said they expect the 6 p.m. private event to draw as many as 800 contributors from Staten Island, Brooklyn and other parts of the metro area, and that Fossella's campaign will realize about $250,000.

In a prepared statement yesterday, Fossella said he was "pleased to be working with President Bush and Vice President Cheney" on a range of foreign and domestic issues.

2. Staten Island is very Republican
and Catholic. That he has support there doesn't suprise me.
