1. I've got Verizon DSL
since they are my phone company.

But, I would love to have Hughes.net or clearwire, if their pricing ever comes down. They are overpriced right now, AFAIC.

2. Your choices are:
Cable: (pretty much Time Warner)
Phone: AT&T/Embarq/whoever...
WiMax: Clearwire (pricey, underpowered)
Satellte: Hughes.net (pricey, way underpowered, highly congested)
Cell Phone: Verizon, Sprint, AT&T, Alltel... (pricey, underpowered)

Sometimes you can get a good deal from a re-seller. Earthlink could be a good bet... though in Time Warner areas they will want to steer you to them rather than going the DSL route.

4. RoadCrawler as I call it isn't that bad really.
It's fairly reliable... it's way faster than the DSL service I could have had (I don't have RR's max speed option, the next one down)

At the end of the day you can play off RoadRunner and your DSL competition off with each other. They are fairly matched for prices and you can get Internet from the phone company without the phone service now (true in AT&T and Verizon areas, not sure about Embarq, though I'm sure it is an option). You can actually play off RoadRunner vs Earthlink... cancel RR, call up Earthlink, subscribe with them... same guy who probably installed your RoadRunner will install the Earthlink... and guess what? Time Warner Bloody Cable will still send you the bill. That way you get introductory pricing from RR, then intro from Earthlink.. and so on.

Mark.
