Ohio's Unregistered and Disaffected Voters
As great as tonight's news is on Kerry's numbers in Ohio, this should be of concern to all of us.

These people could make the difference, and in many ways they have the most at stake in this election. Does anyone know if there is any concerted voter information/registration efforts going on in these counties?

1. At the Muskingum county fair,
the NAACP was registering voters. A few people were signing up when I walked past their booth - looked like they were getting a lot of people registered. The local paper had quoted them that day as saying they don't care what color you are what your religion is, or what your politics are, that they just want people to register and get out there and vote.

Mongo might know more about what other efforts might be going on around here. (And he's registered a whole bunch of people himself!)

2. Good to know...
...thanks. A shortened version of that story appeared in the Dayton Daily News on Monday, and given the numbers, the Ohio could very well turn on how these people vote (or not).

The word must get out: These people are valued, their opinion does indeed count. It may be hard to convince some of that, but we must try.

3. I have heard of lots of efforts by individuals
but not too many locally by groups.

Just today, I was dropping off some Kerry volunteer forms to the clerk of a small town S of here. Her daughter is the local festival queen, and has been traveling around the state every weekend to each towns festival (part of the Ohio podunk town association <grin>) so that each small town festival can have a big parade with all the small town queens.

This young lady has registered lots of people and as here mom said "registering 18yo's left and right"

I was impressed. Her mom is really cool too...

I was at the Dr.s office getting my blood drawn (in my Kerry shirt) and one of the nurses asked about yard signs.

People are really motivated all over the place. The problem is that there isn't enough coordination on a local level - or money for materials.
