Bush in Cleveland Saturday/Rapid Response Protest
The Rapid Response Network is holding an emergency meeting to prepare for the George W. Bush visit to Cleveland this weekend. The emergency planning meeting will take place at 11 a.m. this Wednesday, September 1st, at the Cleveland AFL-CIO office, Laborer's 310 Hall, 3250 Euclid Ave., room 250.

George Bush is scheduled to make an address at the Ritz-Carlton on Saturday. It will come right after this week's Republican National Convention in New York City and is designed to ride the bounce from that event. If you hear about any other details about this local visit or the current President's other local stops please contact John Gallo at (216) 881-7200 or Cecil Hickman at (440) 895-9443.

Please let us know as soon as possible if you plan to attend the Wednesday meeting.
We certainly don't have to tell you how important it is to make a great impression during the Labor Day weekend. The national media will be there, as will crowds taking advantage of the holiday. Also it's the traditional kick off to the serious campaigning for the Presidential election in November.

Help us "welcome" the President to Cleveland!!!!

1. Good idea! Good luck.
Although you couldn't tell from the news media, there are more of us than them and we're fired up. Protests such as yours are one of our main ways so get some attention to let others know that they aren't alone in their desire to dethrone Bush.

Like Penitentiary Glen, this is also a Lake Metroparks facility.

Republican National Committee's phone message tells area Republicans
President Bush is coming to Lake Farmpark

An estimated 90,000 Northeast Ohio Republicans received an automated
message Tuesday evening announcing that President George W. Bush will
visit Lake Farmpark in Kirtland.
The message, which was paid for by the Republican National Committee,
confirmed the park will be the place where thousands of GOP
supporters will gather Saturday to listen to the president.
"We invite you to see President George W. Bush and local Republican
candidates at a (Republican National Committee) Victory 2004 rally in
Lake County," the message said. "This event will take place in the
afternoon of Saturday, Sept. 4, at Lake Farmpark."
Bush's campaign announced Saturday's visit on Monday. However,
details about where Bush would be speaking were withheld.
A Bush-Cheney spokesman told The News-Herald that specific details
about presidential appearances would not be announced until later in
the week as a security precaution.
Despite the messages, Lake County Republican Chairman Dale Fellows
said the visit to Lake Farmpark, as far as he knew, had not been
confirmed by the White House.

"It's absolutely not etched in stone," he said.

Lake Metroparks Marketing Manager John Venen said the parks system
had no comment on the matter and referred all questions to Lake
County Republican Headquarters. Nonetheless, the RNC message advised
supporters that free tickets to the event could be picked up today,
Thursday and Friday at U.S. Rep. Steve LaTourette's campaign office
in Mentor. Tickets will be limited.
