1. Special election to decide
our candidate will be held Friday, Sept. 15.

The only name that's familiar to me is Jane Mitakides.

Sanders is the former Waynesville mayor and a perennial candidate.

Chapman is a former UD basketball star.

Chema is a former federal prosecutor.

Flip a coin?

Any input from fellow 3rd District Buckeyes?

Yes, we need press!

2. Chapman does not even live here...
...his legal address is Brooklyn, NY; he is here only to finish postgraduate work at UD. He's also been employed at some Dayton schools.

He's running because he's been told he's good with people, plus, running for office is a new gig for him.

That's enough to get my vote. Not.

I thought Jane Mitakides ran a competent campaign in 2004, albeit on a shoestring. I also saw a sign for her on a car in Washington Twp. today; I thought, good -- I only wish she had started much earlier with the name recognition back in 2004. She seemed to be very up on the issues. I would not hesitate voting for her; hell, I almost signed on as a campaign staffer last time.

As for Chema and Sanders...I dunno.

The 3rd District is going to be tough for a Democrat to win since it's been so effectively gerrymandered to make it a solid GOP lock for several elections to come. Not saying it's not impossible, but it's going to take a strong name and personality to win over the southern half of it.

Side question that I have been wondering about: Whatever happened to Rick Carne? Is he no longer interested in politics? I saw him in a debate with Turner and it was no contest. Carne was all over Mike.

3. Chema to be endorsed by Montgomery Co. Dems?
And Jane Mitakides to withdraw?

This, from daytonpolitics.com

The Montgomery County Democratic party is poised to endorse Dick Chema for Congress in OH 3. When that happens, and possibly sooner, Jane Mitakides will withdraw from the race.

Mitakides didn’t seek the OH 3 seat again after loosing in 04 to Turner. If she really wanted the seat she would have run again.

Chema is a fresh new face with credentials that are unmatched. He will run a strong campaign against Turner.

4. Denied strongly
by Mitakides.

The anonymous blogger is citing an anonymous source for the information and doesn't withdraw it after being corrected. Highly suspect.

She certainly looked like she was running for office last week at the Warren County Dems dinner.
