9. It's getting closer

Go vote. Seeing polls like this that shows */cheney leading make me sick to be an American, there I've said. The arrogance of some in this country is astounding, the repuke party or the leaders in the repuke party right now have pandered to the fear, selfishness and greed in society that the repukes portray as pride is disgusting. God I don't know if I could continue to live here if this repuke gets in for four more years. All the idiots that do not have a pot to pee in who back * will deserve what they get. Funny thing is, Kerry's tax increases will affect me, I'll be paying more and gladly. I'm lucky I can go live anywhere I want and commute to my job, actually even though my husbands pay was cut, our real estate business took off so we are actually better off, but at what price and for how long, we certainly don't fit into the category of the *'s base. The fear mongering, the lying, the total disregard for anyone who needs help in this country by this administration and there followers will make me ashamed of what America has become. 10. Another four years of Bush...

...scares the shit out of me. I'm speaking as a mother of a 14- and 11-year-old who will most likely be drafted to die for this failed cause called "the war on terror". I'm speaking as a wife of a man employed in a field hit hard by outsourcing, and who is of an age that finding alternate employment will be a major difficulty. I'm speaking as a former member of the media who is sickened and disgusted beyond belief at a media that no longer sees objectivity and responsibility to the public as its prime duty. I'm speaking as a community volunteer who works with the poor and homeless. I'm saddened at seeing pregnant women and toddlers staying at the shelter because they can't afford an apartment. I'm angered at hearing people tell me that they have to make the choice between eating, taking their medicine, and paying their light bill because the money just isn't there this month. I'm tired and damned angry at seeing good people -- who desperately want to become self-sufficient -- getting constantly knocked down by the system. I do what I can -- but it's never enough. It never is.

Never in my life have I ever been so angry and depressed about where we are headed as a nation. I feel so helpless. Some of us see that road, and we are trying to warn those who cannot or will not see what lies ahead, but it's no good. They smirk at us, they harrass us...

Sorry to rant, but after hearing Bush's remarks against Kerry's speech today, and seeing Dan Rather implode, among other things, I've had it. Sorry.
