The Stark co BOE held a meeting this morning regarding provisional ballots and a possible recount. I attended this meeting. Here's what happened.
-They will begin counting the valid provisional ballots today. (Sorry, but I didn't get a figure.)
-They dicussed the possibility of requesting more money from the County Commissioners for overtime if a court case requires them to begin a recount early.
-They will send back a check for recount fees of $3,640 to "National Voting Rights Institute". I don't know who this is.
-Three of the six board members were very vocal about a full hand recount being unnecessary.
-The provisionals will be just added on to the first "unofficial" canvass results. Then all the ballots will be recounted in a second canvass. A machine count. That is when the presidential "undercounts" will be determined. They have a target of 12/1 4:00 PM for official results.
I have all three names. But only have party affiliation of the director. A puke. Couldn't follow up today. Depending on the precincts where the provisionals came from, my guess would be Kerry nets at least 1000. Canton, Massillon, and Alliance went heavy for Kerry.
