How's the PA17 race going? Holden vs. Dingbat Scott Paterno
My parents live in that district and although they are repubs they are voting for both Kerry and Holden :bounce:

Anyone working on the campaign? Maybe some weekend I'm in Harrisburg I'll join up with you folks for a day of some campaigning!!

1. Holden
It looks pretty good, although I haven't seen any official polling. The Patriot-News had a (well-deserved) nasty column about Paterno. I'm in East Pennsboro, which used to be in that district until 2002; they moved us to make a safe seat for Gekas <snort>. The only thing that might save Scottie is a really good Penn State football season, which seems highly unlikely. (Will Joe never figure out that his Republican campaigning makes recruiting impossible?)

2. Ex-Perry County resident here (Marysville)

I remember meeting George Gekas when I was like 12-14 years old. I wanted to ask him a question about the electorial process (I was a political junkie kid). Instead he gave me his business card and said it was good for a free ice cream cone in New Zealand.

I have never EVER forgotten that - old geezer fart - glad redistricting backfired on you and your repuke cronies!!!

BTW - my family is now in Middletown and I moved out of Perry County as soon as I graduated from college

3. Rep. Gekas
My parents say he was forever showing up at senior citizen centers and playing the piano, which they thought was goofy, too. We (East Pennsboro Township, Cumberland County, actually halfway up Blue Mountain, a short walk to Marysville) were redistricted out of his district.

4. Good news about PA17
In the newest Keystone poll released just a few days ago it showed Holden with a HUGE lead over Paterno.

This is great news - but I hope the campaign and the dem activists in PA17 do not rest easy and allow the momentum to slip away.

5. Paterno is toast
Paterno is done - he's run a weak campaign and Holden's supporters are energized.

Not only that, PA is really lookin good for Kerry!!!

Too bad about Hoeffle :-(

6. My head almost exploded today in Harrisburg
My friend sus felt like roadtripping today for campaigning so we helped out with ACT in Harrisburg. They sent us to 2 areas around Verebeke street in downtown Harrisburg (wall to wall Kerry signs everywhere). But one front law had a Bush/Cheney04 sign next to a Tim Holden for US Representative sign.

My head almost exploded!

7. Where do your parents live?
We live in majorly Repuke Bernville, PA (just off 183, which is right off 222).

I think Holden has the race pretty well sewn-up.

8. Go Holden!
Holden used to be my rep before redistricting. Now I have Pitts. Holden is really conservative for a Dem, but at least he gives us another seat. Anyone have info on how Lois Herr is doing?
