need help with letters to the editor
Edited on Thu Sep-09-04 02:25 PM by ilyashl
I'd like to get some pro-Kerry letters to the editor into Pennsylvania newspapers. (I've had some success with national ones, including 15 in NYTimes: http://ilya.cc/lett ).
Problem is, I'm not in PA and they only publish locals.

Would anyone be interested in taking letters that I write, signing them and sending them to Pennsylvania newspapers? Of course, only letters you agree with -- and you can edit them as you see fit.

If you can help me with this, please email me at: mycar at mit dot edu.

1. I could try ...
I just fired one off to a Pittsburgh paper ... which they confirmed - so they might be out (I think you're allowed 1 every 30 days). But there are plenty of others. I'd live to light up the Tribune-Review.

2. email me?
Looks like you yourself write good letters -- and we all have limited quota -- I don't want you to use your quota on my letters. But if you're ok with this, can you send me email? mycar at mit dot edu.

3. PA newspapers
do publish out-of-state letters.

Keep in mind that many have anti-Astroturf policies in place. My Harrisburg Patriot-News has twice editorialized about why it's printing so many pro-Kerry and so few pro-Bush letters: The pro-Bush letters they get are mostly Astroturf.

Needless to say, I haven't bothered writing LTTEs locally for a while; others are doing such a great job.

4. astroturf
thanks for teaching me a new term -- astroturf.
but looks like this means "an artificial grass-roots effort created by big money"? sounds that like refers to form letters sent to many places.

good point.
but giving an editor more to choose from shouldn't hurt.
