1. Can somebody tell me about Murphy?
I know him personally, but know nothing of his politics. I really should considering I live in his district, but I've only recently gotten into politics.

2. Republican Party line.
Claims to be an independent thinker, but only one vote of his has differed from the Republican party line. He is an asshole, and a photo-opper. He was seen recently at Toys R Us posing for "military appreciation day." He is the worst kind of republican, a party line, ass kissing, mindless, heartless dickhead.

3. Well, I'd have to disagree with you about him personally..
He's a good man. But thanks for updating me on his voting record.:)

4. I went to a public meeting which Murphy was hosting
it was open to the public and basically it started with him promoting the war and the Bush agenda.

When I stood up and asked him about outsourcing he looked at me and said..."I haven't read much about this topic" Now outsourcing is a big issue and here he was telling me that it wasn't on his radar screen. I then cited some stats locally and I also asked him what our young computer science grads would do when they get out of school and find that corporate america would rather hire people for a fraction of the cash overseas...and his response was.(I am paraphrasing).."Well global trade is a good thing and sometimes bad things happens.." that is not a good answer...

More people stood up to complain about healthcare, war etc...and he just glossed over their problems...this was a public meeting...he wasn't on camera....he could have just given real answers but he just did the glossy photo op type stuff...
The only time he was animated was when someone was touting the repub line...

I also ran into him at the polls and he and I got into a heated discussion about whether morality is subjective. I think morality is subjective...based on culture, age, experience...many factors...
Murphy, who is a psychologist and a PhD...blatantly tells me that morality isn't subjective and that there is one morality theme for us all...which I find a very obtuse observation for a well-educated individual. You don't have too look hard to see that there are different moral standards throughout the world...for example some cultures have no problems with young girls being married at 13...but here in the US it is abhorrent and considered child abuse. We also discussed education and he is one of those GOPers who like to tow the party line that vouchers are good and that public schools suck. So I challenge this idea by telling him that not all public schools suck and that really the education issue is a multi-faceted problem and that in many cases the parents are to blame...I asked him..."Is the school to blame if the parent doesn't go over homework or become involved in the child's life?" he didn't like giving an answer to that either... because it might mean conceding that the problem is more complicated than the GOP likes to portray it.

He is in favor of the war, he voted for the medicare bill which sucks, and he also voted for more money for the war...he also votes for amendments to make flag burning illegal...which for me is just another useless "wedge" issue...because burning a flag is just burning cloth...it is the ideas behind the flag that mean something.
