Thune raises more money than Daschle over last six weeks

SIOUX FALLS, S.D.(AP) — Republican U.S. Senate candidate John Thune raised more than twice as much money as Sen. Tom Daschle did during April and early may, but federal records filed Thursday show Daschle still has more cash in the bank.

Thune raised $1.37 million between April 1 and May 12, while the senate minority leader raised $560,000. Daschle poured about $1.5 million into mailings and television, newspaper and radio ads, more than Thune's $718,000 spent.
