Harold Ford is no Zell Miller, not even close
Comments comparing Rep. Ford to Zell Miller are unfounded and incorrect.

According to the Serria Club Harold Ford voted pro-environment 75% of the time in 2005. The League of Conservation Voters gave Ford a 91% in the 108th Congress. Out of 9 Tenn. US Congressman Harold Ford was the second best according to them. Zell Miller scored a 0% from them for the 108th Congress.

The ACLU gives Harold Ford a Lifetime score of 53%. Not that bad and not that good right? Zell Miller gets a Lifetime score of 17%.

I could go on. Look Ford isn't the most liberal congressman in the Nation but he is no Zell Miller. If he wins he could be the difference in turning the US Senate Blue just in time for High Court vacancies.

1. I don't believe anyone could be as bad as Zell Miller...
that guy was a complete freak of nature. The only way fitting for him to be immortalized is in a 20ft tall statue made purely of hardened rat pellets.

3. To someone from the East or West coast Ford seems very conservative
because they have a MUCH more liberal electorate. They have the luxury of rejecting moderates in favor of liberals. Except, of course, they often wind up electing cretins like Schwartzenneger and Pataki and Chafee and Santorum. Go figure...

Here in the south, the electorate would never elect a Barbara Boxer or a John Kerry. Hell, Joe Lieberman, Diane Feinstein or Evan Bayh would be considered WAY too far left by most down here.

Ford is a good, centrist Democrat and his winning the Tennessee open seat would be incredible. Sadly, I don't expect it to happen but-if the administration keeps unraveling at its current pace, anything is possible...

4. I do admit he's no Zell Miller but
I'm still not that great of a fan. I do give him that though. I think Zell has gone nuts.

5. He also gets high marks in education funding (his personal pet),
and in supporting tax cuts to the middle class: both issues that are important to the majority of Tennesseans.

What drags down his ACLU rating is his votes on late-term abortion - he doesn't support it. I don't agree with him on this issue, but he is pro-choice the rest of the time.

You're absolutely correct, usregime. Ford is no where NEAR close to Zell. Yet, to read the main board, one would think he is evil personified.

Personally, I try not to bash Dems. There are a couple I don't like for very personal reasons (Edwards and Lieberman - both have done things in regards to issues very personal to me that I don't appreciate), but I'd still rather have ANY Dem over a Republican.

I will not "bash" Kurita, although I will not support her. She's a fine legislator. I like her, but I don't see her as having a snowball's chance in hell of winning either the primary or the general election.'

I would hope we could remain civil because we're all going to have to get behind the eventual Dem nominee (and I'll get behind Kurita if she somehow wins). Ford, in my opinion, will vote with the Dem majority I hope we get in the Senate in 2006.

6. Agreed.
I too wish everyone would accept a eleventh commandment that read, "Speak no ill will against another Democrat." I haven't said anything negative about Harold's opponent, and don't intend to. We are all in this together.

8. Oh please
Give me a break. I can speak ill of anybody I'd like whether they be republican, democratic or independent. Who are you to tell me not to critize people? Sorry bucko I don't think so. I'm a Tennessee native and IF (a BIG if) Ford is going to represent me you better damn well get used to me critizing him because if he does ONE damn thing I dislike whether it's how he votes or speaks about Howard Dean then you better believe I'm going to Email him and critize him on this board. If you don't like it tough shit. I will critize anybody whether it's Ford, Kurita, Corker or (heaven forbid) Hillaery. So get used to it. I'm a freethinker and will not do this "speak no ill" bullshit. I'm not a rightwing brainwashed zombie asshole like some people in this country. Not critizing the government is how we got in this fuckedup place in the first place. If we critized our government a bit more and put pressure on them just MAYBE we wouldn't be in the place we are now. So don't you DARE tell someone they can't speak ill and critize someone.

10. You really think I give a shit about them?
Give me a break. And Ford is doing fine on his own with what he's doing. If he wants a democrat like me to vote for him first of all he should come clean about any alligations about rumors of him and lobbyists. Second of all he should apologize for some of his votes and what he has said about Iraq. I know he's on the minutes petition which is good, but has he talked about it openly on talk shows? Third he should apologize to Howard Dean for manipulating what he said. I'm a die-hard Howard Dean supporter so what he did REALLY turned me off anymore. I can critize anybody I damn well please so get off your high horse and stop kissing Ford's ass so much. He's really not that great. There are better democrats. WAAAAY better democrats.

You will be sued one day I will bet. You still are making salacious accusations against Harold that are unfounded. There are no accusations, other than yours, about him being tied to lobbyists. That is just pure slander, just what the Republicans did to Bill Clinton, Al Gore, and John Kerry, and now you are doing it.

He doesn't have to apologize for anything. He has opinions, just as you have yours.

Finally, get off Dean's high horse. Talk about a DINO. Dean was the most conservative Democratic governor in America while in office. What is your opinon on that? Do you have a probelm with that or do you have a double standard?

Hmmm...isn't is he? LOL. I'm going to be suded for my opinions?! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!! Too hilarious!!! Excuse me while I laugh my ass off. I think this is sooo pathetic. I'm not voting for Ford and end of story. I'm through with arguing with you about this. I know you kiss Ford's ass and I could give a damn. I'm not voting for him no matter what you say or do. You can argue all you want. And who I vote for is none of your damn business unless, guess what, I TELL YOU!

7. How do you know about Kurita?
Do you live in her area? Do you know anything about how she campaigns and appeals to people?
