TN State Senate no longer R majority
"State Sen. Mike Williams announced Wednesday that he is leaving the Republican party and will become an independent.

The move erases the GOP's slim 17-16 margin in the Senate.

However, Ron Ramsey will remain as speaker of the Senate for his full two-year term.

Sen. Williams, who is from Maynardville, held a brief news conference on the switch.

He said Republicans have become too divisive and that could lead to gridlock in the General Assembly.

Sen. Williams two years ago went against his party and supported Democrat John Wilder for lieutenant governor. This time his vote was in doubt. He voted with Republicans after Democrat Rosalind Kurita defected and settled the issue."

1. Hey Flirtus, haven't seen you in a while! Am I going to see you at
re-organization on the 24th?

My spouse called me to tell me about this yesterday. Perhaps he's had enough of the insane brand of republic that runs rampant around here?

2. I'm so deeply overworked,
I don't know what re-organization you're talking about! Rather than look for it! I'll just ask you to tell me! Lazy me! Back to the taxes...

3. Sure, every 2 years the party meets to elect officers, from County
Chair down to the precinct levels.

This year we'll meet at the Chattanooga State Bond Auditorium beginning at 8 a.m. for registration.

9:30 the doors are locked and registration closes.
10:00 begins: precinct caucus, commission district caucus, floor opens for nomination of county-wide officers, adoption of any by-laws, swearing in of all officers, all business must be completed by noon.

If you didn't receive a registration form the form will be available at the site and you need to have a picture ID with you.

Good luck with the taxes.

4. Here are the results of re-organization this morning:
Your new officers for the county are: John Bailes, Chair,; Jeff Wilson, Vice-Chair; Alice O'Dea, Secretary; and James Carpenter, Treasurer.

If you would like to relay your county commission district I'll try to remember who represents you on the Executive Board. :hi:
