Although both House and Senate budgets restore CHIP dental and vision benefits, proposed funding is inadequate to support any growth in CHIP enrollment. The budgets do NOT fully restore CHIP.
Timing is Critical:
Your local senators and representatives need to hear from you before the conference committee makes its final budget decision later in April.
The House budget bill (HB 1) will be debated on the House floor on April 6 - so the timing for Advocacy Day is perfect.
I can't go to this lobby day, but rest assured that my Rep. Elliott Naishtat (big CHIP defender) has heard from me on this. So that's just preaching to the choir. I've written my Senator too - Wentworth.
Don't forget to drop in on Hubert Vo, who ran on the promise of working to restore CHIP. Besides his office would like the visits anyway.
I'm doing some lobby visits myself but on e-voting bills for the ACLU. So much to do, so little time.
