Seeing as she has hardly any support from Republicans and Democrats aren't taking the bait to vote for her in the Republican primary, Carol Four-Names is considering joining Kinky Friedman as an independent candidate. From the DMN:

Some Texans have received calls from a polling company asking whether they would support Comptroller Carole Keeton Strayhorn for governor if she ran as an independent rather than as a Republican.

Gov. Rick Perry's campaign denies it is sponsoring the poll. Mrs. Strayhorn's campaign won't say. "We don't discuss our polls," said Strayhorn spokesman Mark Sanders. "We are regularly in the field testing voter attitudes."

1. 45,000 signatures

She'll have the same problem Kinky does. Worse they'll have to compete with each other for those 45,000 signatures. I like the idea of 3rd parties and Tough Grandma has better chance of getting on as an independent candidate than Kinky. I'd rather see her run against Perry in their primary just so Goodhair has someone hounding him. He's a total failure and the republicans need to hear it from their own.

The poll was probably sponsored by Grandma. I'd do it too if I were her. Win by any means necessary.

2. She has much more money and a much better organization to get signatures.

Hell, I'd help her round up signatures if it came to that. I'd even make t-shirts "Yes to Mean Grandma's Independent Candidacy; No to Stinky Kinky's."

I don't believe she'd do it, though.
