Compromise proposal re: interim TDP chair
from a Harris county yahoogroup via BOR:
Again I suggest that we need an aggressive care-taker for the party until the convention.

No, that doesn't put anything on hold with the SDEC.
No, that doesn't put anything in a bottle waiting for fermentation or staleness, either.

It simply means we don't spoil the whole case with internal strife that will not heal itself and become counterproductive.

The best approach is still within the TDP rules. It is to simply elect the senior vice chair to fill out the term of Mr. Soechting (until the convention) and therefore preside over the convention until a new chair is elected.

This person can continue on the current path and make whatever slight changes and alterations are necessary to keep our training efforts going in the field; keep the staff aggressive and on the leading edge; keep the definitional work from data bases, to organizations progressing at ramp up speed.

We don't need a new chair to do any of those things. The SDEC can clearly dictate these things to the staff and the new chair.

I know my two SDEC members, so I won't waste my time. They'll vote lock-step.

7. "lock step" with who?
Your SDEC members must suck. Mine until last week were looking for inputs, suggestions, and advice on who to vote for. They both were torn between two candidates, until last week.

If you have an SDEC member who is lock stepping with someone, then you and your SD members are not doing your job. Elections are coming up at the SD conventions. Their seats are up. Run for it.

Mine SDEC members are now in lock step because they researched the candidates and came up with the same decision. If that is lock step, then it is a good lock step.

We actually have an SDEC member that cannot run again due to personal reasons. He is REAL GOOD. So we are actively looking for someone. And he has also made up his mind because of last week.

9. Not really, cause I don't pay any attention to them.
**Mine until last week were looking for inputs, suggestions, and advice on who to vote for. They both were torn between two candidates, until last week.**

Until last week?? Soechting didn't resign until THIS week. So you're saying your SDEC members KNEW there was a "plan".

**If you have an SDEC member who is lock stepping with someone, then you and your SD members are not doing your job. Elections are coming up at the SD conventions. Their seats are up. Run for it.**

John, I long ago learned not to try to do and be everything for everyone. I choose my battles and this isn't one of them. I don't even know who all will be running for TDP chair OR if I'll even be a voting delegate. My SDEC members lives pretty much revolve around the party and they like that. When I'm involved, it's for a candidate or candidates I have confidence in. So, I'm in a wait and see mode. I think a lot of people are, which is why I think an interim chair is the best way to go. However, my SDEC members will be checking the way the wind is blowing, not here, but among the SDEC. I know that and so be it. I don't play the political party games. I've been at this for 35+ years and I've learned the party will keep on spinning without me. I know that every cycle, new life will emerge and the battle will continue. Seeing the people here proves that.

**Mine SDEC members are now in lock step because they researched the candidates and came up with the same decision. If that is lock step, then it is a good lock step.**

So, your SDEC members know who is running and have it all research. They had it all decided BEFORE any of these topics even were posted? Why didn't they give you the benefit of their research. You've been posting here, that you can't find info about the candidates, whomever they may actually be. Heck, I didn't even know there were TWO. I thought there were at least THREE. So, who are the TWO? In the last couple of days, I heard yet two more names that will probably be entered at the convention and NO it isn't anyone you and I have discussed!

10. Whatever.
Just whatever.

I have a close relation with my SDEC members. I work with them.

If someone is not doing the same, then they are part of the problem.

Whatever.

11. Don't take it personally, John
I think you do a yeoman's job and it's too bad we don't have a hundred of you. Once upon a time, I even aspired to do half of what you do, but alas, many things interfered, family business, age, health, plus relocating to another state and needing to start over. Sometimes you have to face it. Rather than throw in the towel, I learned to cutback, cause for this time in my life, that worked best for me. I truly appreciate and admire that there are people like you. As I said, sometimes you remind me of a one-armed paperhanger, who never says it can't be done! Thanks for doing it and smiling!!!

It's good you have a working relationship with your SDEC members. Mine, not so much. With one, I tried for a time, but you and I have mutual friends, who can attest, unless you enjoy kissing @ss, it's not gonna happen. I don't, it didn't.

8. Excellent proposal!
"Elect the senior vice chair to fill out the term of Mr. Soechting (until the convention)"

I think a very sane idea has been proposed.

Sonia
