Where is Chris Bell?
Pardon my insolence, guys, but where has Chris Bell been lately? I haven't heard much from him, other than that he supported doing more than just complying with the court order during the special session.

Meanwhile, everytime Kinky farts (pardon my crassness as well), I hear about it (including an article in the Chronicle today on his confusing, hazy positions with a photo of the cowboy hat and cigar). Even on this board, there is more talk about Kinky than about Chris.

Where's Chris' leadership? Where are the progressives following his candidacy and reporting back? Where's the "word on the street" discussion about him? I don't think it's going to be enough for him to win if we're just expecting the core progressives to vote for him, and a few others to vote against Governor Hairspray.

How does he feel about all these positions that Kinky and CKMRS are able to get press for, even though they're not yet on the ballot? This is frustrating - maybe he needs to do a couple of outrageous press conferences where he poke fun at Kinky by showing up in a hat and sunglasses, chomping on a cigar - then he could make a point about taking them off and saying something clever about the gravity of the election and our current state leadership. Chris needs to do some press events. I know it's early, but....

Thoughts?

2. Thanks, Czolgosz
...My point is really that these aren't making it to the mainstream media with the frequency of Kinky's antics. I think it's a problem.

5. I agree that the media is not covering Bell's campaign as it should, but
no one should infer from the lack of coverage that Bell is not hustling because he is.

3. I live in TC, and I didn't know that.

We shouldn't have to go looking for info on him at this point. It should be coming at us. Granted I haven't been attending the Galveston County Dems meetings lately due to conflicts with school, but I am on several local email lists, and not one of them alerted me that he would be about 2 miles from my home tonight.

And now I can't make it because I have another obligation.

4. Agreed
I am up the road a little ways (Friendswood), so TC is not out of reach. I guess I just need to check his Website daily?

6. I had a pretty heartfelt post about him yesterday
on my post about the Fort Bend Democratic Headquarters opening.

Here:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=180x30244

Someone on Daily Kos wrote about the headquarters opening and had this to say about Chris:

Chris Bell has a different style. He is more reserved and dry, at least at first. But once he warmed up, he had some good lines:

"Don't be fooled by Carole Strayhorn saying she's an independent, because she's been a Republican for 20 years. I can call my dog a horse, but he's still a dog."

He had a really good theme that I think we should steal: The New Mainstream. He said that Republicans are always accusing Democrats of being out of the mainstream. Then he asked us to look around the room (a pretty diverse crowd.) This, he said, IS the mainstream. We are the new mainstream, not the Republicans who are truly out of touch with what really matters to most Americans. I may not have described that as well as he said it, but I hope you get the picture. Steal it, work it, expand on it. We are the NEW MAINSTREAM!

7. I also suggest you email the campaign
cbell@chrisbell.com

You have a valid concern and this is not the first time I've heard this! The campaign should read this thread.
