OMG people why do I have to DO ALL OF THIS! I mean my Democratic activism is very important to me but it seems like there's ALWAYS something to be done as far as fighting city hall and those dumbass developers! We have to fight off the bad comprehensive plan! The proposed stupid skyscraper! The ugly McMansions! I mean, it's not like I'm anti-development, but for cat's sake, let's do our development RIGHT. :grr:  :grr::mad: :grr:

'Scuse me, I have to run off to city hall and kick some ass. :eyes:

1. Austin city council just passed limits to McMansions
The ordinance has to be passed on 3 readings and it's gone through 2. I will pass officially on June 22nd.

And naturally I couldn't find the ordinance. Feel free to try if you need to find something similar to use as a model for your city.

Here's a news clip on our ordinance
KVUE News/June 9, 2006
Council passes "McMansions" restrictions

The Austin City Council has taken its first step in limiting the development of so-called McMansions.

Around 3:30 Friday morning the city council unanimously approved new restrictions on supersized homes.

Hundreds signed up to speak at Thursday night's public hearing, but only a portion of those people braved the early hours to speak in front of the council.

The council ultimately passed the restrictions -- which will limit the size of a home to 2,300 square feet or no greater than 40 percent of the lot size.

Good luck crispini!
