Veterans Protest Bob Perry's Home Calling for an end to the Swift Boat Ads
Veterans and local citizens of Nassau Bay Texas converged on the home of Bob Perry, Texas homebuilder and financier of the ads attacking Vietnam Veterans and John Kerry. About 50 loud protestors with signs and banners were greeted with supporting cheers from neighbors and those who passed by.
Bob Perry has financed the Swift Boat Attack ads against Vietnam Veterans by donating $200,000. He is also a very large contributor to the Republican Party and has what seems to be an overwhelming influence on state politics. This year, Perry's Vice President and General Counsel, John Krugh, was appointed by the Governor to a Commission that provides oversight to his homebuilding industry. Bob Perry has also donated about $500,000 to the Governor for his campaigns.
The Veterans in the crowd left a letter for Bob Perry on his door demanding that he stop the attack on American Veterans with his swift boat attack ad so a real debate on the issues could begin. "This is not just about John Kerry", said John Cobarruvias, organizer of the event, "It is about how Bob Perry had disgraced every single Veteran who has served their country, and those who have died for their country. Bob Perry should take down his ad and apologize to America".
Besides a large banner stating "Veterans for Kerry" other signs included "Bob Perry Homes Built on Lies", "Bob Perry $200,000 Coward", and "Shame on You".
