confirm rumor: Houston Mayor Bill White speaks at DeLay fundraiser
Well, can anyone confirm this? My call to the Mayor campaign office went unanswered.

This would be a MAJOR dissapointment if this is true. He was the former Texas Democratic Party Chair.

1. And you're surprised at White because.....?
Don't get me started on White. White was the undisputed worst chair the state ever had. I, for one, think this would be completely in character for White.

2. I hope this isn't true. I thought Bill White was a Democrat?

3. It's True!
From the Houston Chronicle;

?David Saperstein, chairman of Mayor Bill White's Office of Mobility, hosted a fund-raiser for U.S. Rep. Tom DeLay at his River Oaks home Monday. The dinner for 20, at $2,000 a head, featured White as a special guest.
White is former state Democratic chair and DeLay is one of the nation's most powerful Republicans, but Saperstein said the conversation was politically neutral.

His phone will be ringing off the hook tomorrow.

I was walking 2.5 miles with Richard Morrison in a parade this morning. There was 20 of us in total. We were SHOCKED to hear this crap.

While we are out working our ass off, White is kissing someone elses. And it is the wrong one!

6. Question
Not trying to defend White, but it sounds like it was David Saperstein who held the fundraiser. Or did Bill White also show up to this soiree?

Sick if either is true, disgusting if both.

7. No White was a guest speaker
It was inappropriate for White to do this. PERIOD.

We worked our ass off for him during his campaign and now he pulls a Zell Miller on us? The $40,000 will go to defeat others around the state.

8. I understand
Just missed the details of what went down in my head.

Yes, this is highly inappropriate. It also goes a long way to explain some of what has gone on with the Democratic Party in Texas. And yes, Zell Miller is a good analogy.
