Austin4Kerry debate watching party

Come on out to Ruta Maya Coffee House (3601 S. Congress) and watch Senator John Kerry debate Dubya (sans flight suit we hope) in the first of the three Presidential debates. We'll be watching the festivities on the big screen, and there's plenty of room, so bring friends.

We'll have a live conference call featuring James Carville and Paul Begala at 7pm, and turn over to the debates at 8pm. Post debate, we'll have time for comments and little live music as well.

As always, we'll have Kerry/Edwards gear, and a slew of volunteer opportunities.

Free to the public and open to all ages.

1. I would suggest lawn chairs too
They are splitting the viewing areas. Inside showing is for people that can listen quietly, and outside is for those of us who can't stand to hear bu$h without wanting to hurl, i.e. the heckle area. Bring your bug spray too in case of mosquitoes or Tom DeLay viewings.

6. It was great
Three or four hundred people packed into Ruta Maya, thoroughly enjoying Bunnypants being sliced to ribbons. Afterwords some stayed to watch the Daily Show.

7. Y'all are such a great crew
Edited on Fri Oct-01-04 11:05 AM by PDittie
Can't wait to see all y'all again later this month.

We had about 75 crowded into the Philly Connection on Bissonnett here in H-Town; another hundred or so at the Pub inside Rice University's student union when we went by there, and at least a hundred at the Artery, where we wrapped up the evening with the Young D's and Dem candidates Jim Doughtery (running against state Rep. Martha Wong) and John Martinez (who is challenging Congressman John Culberson).

A good time was had by all, everywhere.

8. Cool!
Ours was great too.

A couple hundred at the new Gilley's south of downtown Dallas; it was great to see friends I hadn't seen the last few months (since Dean dropped out).

Met some new friends and handed out plenty of informational flyers too. AND grabbed a few more Kerry buttons and bumper stickers to hand out to interested folks.

:hi: guys!
