Texas presidential caucus winner? Check back in 18 days
(snip)
Unofficial and incomplete tallies posted online by the state party suggest that Obama won the caucuses by enough of a margin, 56 percent to 44 percent, that he could reap up to 38 delegates from the caucuses compared with Clinton's 29. If that happens, he stands to take more pledged delegates from Texas than Clinton (though that arithmetic leaves out how 35 Texas superdelegates, consisting of U.S. House members and party dignitaries, eventually shake out).

Not so, says Garry Mauro, coordinator of Clinton's Texas campaign. Mauro said his operatives assure him Clinton did as well in each state senatorial district at night as she did in voting during the day, and she may have outperformed her primary vote in caucuses in South Texas.

On Monday, the former party chairman who ushered into place the state's mixed system of a primary and caucus in the 1980s said the caucuses might deserve to fade. "We probably have to go to a pure primary," Bob Slagle said.

His thought was seconded by Molly Beth Malcolm, another former state party leader. "No one (else) has a process like this," Malcolm said. "It's time for a change."

Oh lookie here, who wants to change our caucus system. Why it's none other than Bob Slagle and Molly Beth Malcolm. Well that settles it - they stay. And we'll fight like hell to keep them. :grr:

2. I actually liked the other title you saw in that blog
May not be appropriate for mass distribution but it fits Texas too -it's a big name and rude and in your face.

"The Great Texas Clusterfuck Primary and Caucus!" Yeehaw!!!

Don't Mess With Our Texas GTCPC! Ya Hear!

3. Nobody complained when Texans had no voice at all
But when we got a voice in the decision making, everybody and his brother wants to tell us how to use our voice.

:raspberry:

4. Why do they hate it when people learn the rules
People like Molly Beth are always trying to game the rules every time people get wise to them. Molly and her minions just want to keep their "top status" ruler designation. That is so last decade Molly Beth! The people are perfectly capable of making their own decisions about their own party rules.

She played our PPC Caucus like pied piper two years ago in Fort Worth and marched in with her minions to stuff our ballot box. Well no more of that Molly Beth - we got your number. :P

5. I have a feeling that this election cycle will change a lot of things
We are seeing the true colors of some of our nominal leaders and some of us don't like it at all. It is not just the super delegates endorsements, but the way some people are behaving.

I know when I got that robocall from Slagle I decided I would never listen to him again.

And as much as I like Gary Mauro, his support of Sen. Clinton makes me want to look elsewhere for leadership.

6. I will not support Gary Mauro for party chair
I've heard rumors he's thinking about another run for the TDP chair. I don't think someone who is the chair for either campaign should take a shot at running for the TDP chair. Period.

7. Gee I wonder who they support?
Oh yeah, Bob's already made calls for Hillary.

They didn't want to change the system back in 04 or 06. Why now?

10. Keep the primacaucus. Ditch Slagle and Malcolm.
And all the rest of their crew, too.

(We will have this opportunity to send these people packing in June, in Austin. But we're going to have to train the Obama delegates good in order to keep the Old Guard from doing to them what Clemenza did to Paulie...)

15. No voting in a Texas Democratic meeting is secret
Those are the party rules. The Officers, the members and all the representatives conduct their meetings in the open, with transparency and for all to see. Get used to it!

17. Well most of us greassroots people disagree with you and Molly Beth
It's not broken. It worked pretty good considering the turn out.

But go ahead an try to run the change by the rules committee, you're entitled to make a run for it. Just be prepared for the grassroots posse guarding the pass. We're fair so we'll give you a head start and a warning.
