2 pit bull terriers euthanized after being set on fire in Dallas

Dallas police are investigating an incident in which two pit bull terriers were set on fire and so badly burned that they had to be euthanized

About 11 p.m. Saturday, witnesses saw two dogs on fire running from the intersection of Sunburst and Alps drives, located about a mile west of Balch Springs, police said.

Two teenage boys, 15 and 17, were standing at the corner, but fled when witnesses tried to confront them, police said.

11. Not really relevant here, but to get my experience down on record
I've been attacked and bitten twice by German Shepherds, one of them was a former police dog which was allowed to run loose and I punched it away from me after the first attack and my friend grabbed its collar and controlled it until we both made it inside the house we were visiting.

I've never been attacked by a Pit Bull.

I've been bitten by a Yorkshire Terrier once, and bitten out of the blue by a guy walking his mutt by me once. That last one drew blood on my thigh, the owner didn't care, I suspect he was the problem. I said "What the Fuck!" and he said "Sorry!" and walked off.

The only Pit I know only made sure nobody ever fucked with the new baby in the house. If you weren't my friend, his friends, his wife (the mother), or me, you weren't getting close to that baby. :)

In fact, I kinda miss Brandy, she was a good pup.

13. Something in common
I was bitten by a retired police dog. Ran across a busy street while I was on my paper route.

Thanks for your story of Brandy.

3. Evil craziness is rampant.
How can they know the exact ages of the boys if they did not catch them? Or do the witnesses know who they are and the police cannot identify them since they are underage?

Damn - I hope they are caught so they can be removed from society.

6. DU blaming it on a war society in three, two, one..
There will always be some kids who just don't get it, they usually come from parents who just don't get it or are too busy on meth to care, or think their kids are "Indigo" or otherwise unquestionable. It's not about politics, and seeing war on tv, or playing video games, some people just need some severe action taken against them to stop what they're doing.

8. There is a special place in hell for people who torture animals and children.
Those kids are already trouble; that's a huge warning sign for future abusers.

10. Motherfuckers.
They need to serve a little time and then spend 5 straight years volunteering at an animal shelter.

How can some people be so cruel?

18. They should apply to the CIA or military
I hear there are openings still for soldiers in the enhanced interrogation department. That's just the kind of boys they are looking for these days.

19. How could someone do such a thing?
Those boys need to be put away for a very long time. Something inside them is very broken.

22. I'm torn between that idea
and the idea of putting them in jail for a relatively short period and upon release forcing them to work in an animal shelter for many years. Maybe they can somewhow develop compassion, I don't know.

23. Youthful torture of animals is a sign of being a sociopath
and I'm not an expert, but I don't think that you can teach a sociopath compassion. They lack the wiring for it. I'm afraid they would just torture animals in a shelter too. It is a truly sad case.

24. What these two douche bags did was completely/totally WRONG, but...
people need to keep their animals put up. I live very near to Balch Springs (Pleasant Grove), and people let their dogs out ALL THE TIME, which is also dangerous for others who want to take a walk or jog.
