Plano ISD officials just confirmed that a Wilson Middle School student tested positive for the swine flu virus. It's the first case in Plano ISD, and the school will close Friday and is expected reopen Monday, May 11.

Also, starting tomorrow, all overnight student travel and field trips have been canceled until May 11. However, no PTA events, banquets or school events, except those at Wilson, have been canceled.

Several probable cases of swine flu have prompted Plano school officials to close two more schools and extend the closure of another.

Barron Early Childhood School and Sigler Elementary School are closed until May 18, officials announced Sunday. Wilson Middle School, which was to reopen next week, will also stay closed until May 18.

Health officials are encouraging students to remain at home and not to congregate at public places such as malls and restaurants.
