Alliteration: The key to becoming Austin's mayor.
Gus Garcia, Will Wyn, Lee Leffingwell... Sorry, Brewster, you'll have to change your name.

Okay, so the post lacks gravitas, but these things are important.

1. If Ms Piggy had run under her old mayoral name of Carole McClellan
She could have been a contender.

3. Some of those names sound so strange today
1856 E. R. Peck
1909-19 Alexander Penn Wooldridge

This one makes me laugh out loud.
1977-83 Carole Keeton Rylander (Previously Carole Keeton McClellan and now Carole Keeton Strayhorn)

She screws up their table with her penchant for collecting names. I believe her name was just Carole Keeton when she was mayor. Does anybody remember for sure? The wikipedia entry on her says she divorced McClellan during her first term as mayor.

John Glenn was our mayor from 1871-72. Wow he's been around forever. ha ha.
Actually it would have been cool to have John Glenn as our mayor. The astronaut/Senator I mean.

5. I'm pretty positive it was McClellan. She kept the Keeton as a nod to her famous Dad.

Carole 4n3p was mayor right when I moved to Austin. She was a Dem with 2 names then. I remember the addition of Rylander.

6. I remember her as McClellan
In fact somewhere I have a bumper sticker from when she ran for re-election urging "Dump McClellan!"

John Glenn as mayor was pretty cool. Remember all those years when the State Treasurer was Jesse James?

7. We were so rich then!
Remember when he kept robbing money from other states' banks. That so rocked!
