Need to know how the new HCR will affect you...

Hope this hasn't been posted before. I've been maneuvering around a bit, and it has a lot of information. I've found that if you have a pre-existing condition, the rates are a lot better than using our (Texas) Risk Pool insurance, even though the out-of-pocket expense is quite a bit.

1. My health insurance rates have already gone up...
...and under the new legislation, I can't choose a competing policy, let alone choose my own doctor.

3. Hi, derby378. If you look at the "Timeline" on the Healtchcare.gov...
website, it really helps in letting us know exactly what to expect between now and 2014. From the looks of it, most of the changes implemented today will only affect those of us who have extenuating circumstances. I don't have any special situations, and I have group insurance from my employer, so I won't see any substantial changes until around 2014. But, I think if you will take a close look at the "timeline", you'll be able to see and figure out how hcr will affect you, and when.

4. Hi, hobbit709...
Again, I would look at the "timeline", but if the timeline doesn't answer any of your questions, then I would do a search on the website and see what pops up. Here's more info on how hcr will affect veterans at the link below.

They also have a phone number where you can call for more info.

5. I really do think HCR will help a LOT of people (especially the...
uninsured, seniors, children, young adults, and people with pre-existing conditions, and maybe Veterans). If you're not sure, then call either Medicare/Social Security Admn., Veterans Administration, Medicaid, or the Texas Dept. of Insurance. I'm pretty sure you'll be able to find the answers to your individual questions by calling one of these agencies.
