So true.
I don't mind having the Sanctuary cities bill die, but what really riles me is that the damn bozos who put the damn thing on the table as an emergency to begin with. Money was obviously in the mix.

Sanctuary cities ban in peril(snip)
The special legislative session ends Wednesday, and the prospects for a ban on sanctuary cities don’t look good.
A Capitol source familiar with the negotiations said Sunday that the governor, lieutenant governor and speaker had agreed to put language in one of the fiscal matters bills, Senate Bill 1, that would issue financial penalties against cities that had sanctuary-city policies. But Sen. Robert Duncan, the Senate Bill 1 author, and other Senate negotiators are objecting.
But another source said there was no hard-and-fast agreement among the Big 3 to put the language into Senate Bill 1 because Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst wanted a different solution — one that included a tougher sanctuary-cities ban. And, in fact, Dewhurst issued a statement late Sunday saying the House needs to act on a separate sanctuary-cities ban already approved by the Senate.
Dewhurst said, “Almost two weeks ago, the Senate passed Senate Bill 9, a comprehensive ban on Sanctuary Cities allowing municipal police officers to inquire about the immigration status of a person lawfully detained or arrested, but the House has not taken action. A majority of our senators have asked for the House to take up and consider Senate Bill 9 (Monday), without amendment, and get it to the Governor’s desk before we adjourn on Wednesday.”
So the Senate wants the House to take up Senate Bill 9 today. It’s not on the calendar, so don’t hold your breath.
And in related news Rick Perry is an official Koch whore... Surprise, surprise....
Postcards from the Lege blog AAS 6/27/11Perry spoke Sunday at Koch brothers’ gathering near Vail(snip)
Gov. Rick Perry spoke Sunday at a summit hosted by the billionaire Koch brothers near Vail, Colorado.
Perry spokesman Mark Miner described the Colorado summit as a “private gathering of business leaders” and said it was not related to a possible presidential campaign.
“This was an opportunity to talk about the economic success in Texas,” Miner said, adding that it was no different than other speeches Perry gives touting the Texas job record.
Charles and David Koch of Koch Industries, an energy conglomerate based in Kansas, are among the country’s leading financial backers of conservative candidates and causes.

It’s not entirely clear how Perry got to Colorado, but a plane owned by aircraft dealer Goldsmith Team LLC flew from Aspen to Georgetown on Sunday, flight records show.
In 2010, Goldsmith made more than $25,000 worth of in-kind contributions to Perry’s re-election campaign. And now that the legislative session and veto period are over, Perry and other state officials can again accept in-kind contributions.
Perry has his hand held out for the season of money greasing by corporate whores. :puke:
