Does Gary Locke even exist?
I rarely see or hear anything about him. The same goes for our Senators.

I moved here from the Twin Cities, and in MN the politicians were always in the news. And the newspapers were more interesting to read, with more political coverage. There were two local PBS stations, and they ran a lot of coverage of local politics, including coverage of the state legislature.

Here in WA there just seems to be a distance between the politicians and the people - just my impression.

1. Locke was
on a special the other night on PBS. Tonight there will be a bunch of them on king...either channel 5 or 6 , not sure, with Robt. Mack talking about the up coming election.

2. Patty Murray's working hard on her campaign.
Maria Cantwell is a silent but benevolent force. Locke is retiring and phoning it in, but should be campaigning against Rossi. Is he allowed to do this?

5. I don't see why not.
Locke has endorsed candidates, I don't see why he couldn't campaign against Rossi. Cheney is campaigning FOR him.

6. from what i understand
after Locke gave a Dem response to one of boosh's state of the union speeches, he was bombarded with death threats, and that was a deciding factor in his decision to retire, and maybe the reason for him to lay low awhile. He does have 2 (?) small children.

7. gary locke has been phoning it in for his entire tenure in office
super-ineffectual, uses the phrase, 'first asian-american governor' the same way bush uses 'war president'.

it's too bad Lowery was accused of being 'handy'-because he was much better, much more visible, than locke.

9. I feel the same way. Locke is a disappointment.

He did very little in his tenure. He promised to be the "education governor" yet refused to authorize raises for teachers. He also really got me mad when he gave Boeing that sweetheart deal to get the 7E7 project here while slashing benefits for the unemployed (which I was!). The Democratic Party of Washington does not need such docile Republican Lite leaders like Locke. This is why I am so reluctant to vote for Gregoire though I will. I also wished Lowry was still governor! He is more of a Democrat than Locke or Gregoire could ever be.

10. And I have a huge doubt about that accusation by that woman
I have met Lowery and since I was the daughter of someone he knew, he was huggy. I sensed nothing sexual about it, and I am fairly in tune to that type of thing. I think she was a person who was ultra sensitive-probably due to a nasty previous encounter. I wish Dan Evans or Booth Gardner were still on the job-except Booth F'd it up when he (allegedly) schtupped Judith Billings and she bought herself that big fancy expensive desk...
